Hi guys,
I play NL100/50, and I have been trying to understand more about 4bets and how to react vs each villain.
So, according to Holdem Manager 4b range % means:
Four Bet Range = % of hands player 4bets with based on PFR multiplied by 4bet %. This will give you the approx range of what hands he is 4betting.
So, according to this info, if we have a BTN that opens 50% and 4bets 14% we will have:
50*0.14 = 7% 4b range.
I know the HM gives us the stat value. What I want to know is what do you use as standard in the HUD/Popup, and what sort of mental process you use to get through 4b/5b actions.
Using the example above, I know that those 7% 4b range aren't just value. Certain villains will have 3.5% of value and 3.5% of bluffs. I also know that table dynamics and recent history are important, and I think most of the players use that in their thought process. Like, "this guy just 4b me twice and I folded, now I have TT, so instead of calling his opening I'm going to 3b/call a ship."
I want to start a discussion about this topic, just to learn more from different opinions.

Villain's 4bet range is mostly a function of what range he is assigning to you which again depends on the positions at the table and how you have been playing.
Forget about the stats they have close to no value in this situation.

He means villans 4bet range is directly proportional to your 3bet range which is directly proportional to villans opening range. The wider the opening range, the wider the 3bet range (value and bluffs) therefore the wider the 4bet range (value and bluffs).
So people 3/4 bet wider vs a looser opening range eg CO vs BU
Although this is assuming optimal play and not even considering adjustments, exploiting, table dynamics, recent history etc.

I agree completely so play exploitatively by doing two things not 4bet bluffing much/calling 3bets too lightly and 3betting lighter against people who fold alot/play fit or fold post flop in 3bet pots.

That is assuming too many things that aren't happening at these stakes. But yap I understand.
People are going to 4bet/fold if they think it is a good idea. That depends mostly on how wide they expect you to be 3betting. Don't make it more complicated than it is. Stats are close to worthless in this situation.
