@Marco ... In HU you should forget all about 1) unless you play against a good MSNL HU specialist . And the only spots where you can balance is in preflop wars ... postflop not a chance

Not if you can develop a read.

yeah, well that's what I mean. If you had a read, then clearly you want to use it and exploit the leak. But if you don't have relevant information pointing to a leak, you should generally try to play reasonably balanced?

This sounds very interesting. Do you mean that in a spot where we don't know anything about our opponents tendencies, we could still choose to play unbalanced for the purpose of gaining a read to use in future hands? Could you give an example of this?

Oh noes, you're forcing me to use my own brain! Smile

Think brain, think!

Ok. This concept might be applicable to 3betting, for instance. When you have an unknown to your right, you might want to 3bet him fairly aggressively in the beginning, to develop a read regarding how he responds to 3bets. If he, for instance, tends to call 3bets oop and then fold the flop to a cbet, you want to know that as fast as possible. If you start out 3betting him with a balanced frequency, it might be quite a while before you pick up this very lucrative read.

That's good to hear. I usually tend to be a station early in sessions...
