As villain in hand one, since hero raised turn, villain should assume hero will be betting river. Not sure about the small blocking bet with the nuts. If he did it to induce then ok, but would think a c/r would be better play. Thoughts?

I think I've leveled myself in this spot too many times. His bet doesn't make much sense for value, but I'm guessing he shows up with a value hand too often for this to be a call.

I like the hand history review format. I wouldn't mind seeing a bunch more of these.

I generally don't like breaking the tempo there as long as I feel my opponent is capable of making relatively thin value bets. If I think my opponent is going to get scared and check a set then I could maaaybe understand betting. Otherwise, betting stops him from bluffing if he wants to do that, it sometimes loses value against strong hands that would bet/call but instead just call the small bet.

I definitely have also. Sometimes I have to talk myself into making hero calls and I've probably lost money in those situations. Sometimes my gut urges me to call and that's what's happening here. I definitely could be wrong but that's what my gut is telling me.

thanks for the feedback guys. I'll make sure to do a bunch of these. If you'd like me to review any hands you've been wondering about please send those along. You can be on the video if you'd like or I can just talk them over myself.

Pretty good concept in general for DC shorts--coach review of a few member submitted hands.
Great vid.

I'll definitely make sure I do a better job at marking some hands. I've been trying to put in more hands lately so hopefully I can find some interesting spots.

When we play this type of player who bombs the river when checked to, I think it's important to start checking our value hands to him. A lot of players w/ Kx on K27K2 will just bet, bet, bet and are often losing value against this type of bluff happy opponent. This kind of fish may even call a clickback with ace high on a double paired board when we have a boat.

this is true. I know I can be guilty of that. one concern is that fish are poor value bettors. if he value bet somewhat well AND bluffed too much, then it's the easiest check ever with a K. unlike decent players, a fish's calling range and betting range can be almost mutually exclusive, so it's important to compare the sizes of the two ranges. hands like pocket pairs and maybe even a 2 might check back the river, but I agree with you that checking a K is probably best.

Yes, agreed, I have been really focusing on identifying these type of villains and letting them do what they are going to do, ie bet when checked to or bluff. Alot of my biggest pots yesterday came from exactly this. When oop either checking river with strong value hands, or making small bets to feign weakness and allowing fishy agro opponents the chance to jam. Surprised at how often it works, but then again, it is 10 NL and not higher so might not work as one moves up, not sure.

Would love to take part in this in some capacity at any point in time. What kinds of spots are you looking for? Will go through my database and try to find some interesting ones given you don't mind that they are 10 NL. If not given it is so micro, totally understand.
