Hand Readers: Episode Five by terp, orange

Those fun loving gypsy's are back in their next installment of Hand Readers. Terp and Orange continue their discussion of two-barrel bluffing and how it leads into semi-bluffing the turn.

About Hand Readers Subscribe to

Ask any great No Limit player what his biggest strength is, and he’ll tell you it’s his ability to read hands. We hear the term “hand ranges” thrown around left, right and center. Why? Orange and terp explore the answer in this series, primarily focused on hand reading, equity distribution and balancing. A must watch for any micro or small stakes player.

On the Tc8c hand, you need your turn semibluff to work 60% of the time because 82/137 =.598...

edit:I think I screwed up this calculation however. Does anyone know how to do this correctly?

The Dude does.

Just set effstacks to 82 and Hero's equity to zero.

it's 37.44% needed FE assuming we're drawing dead if called (which we aren't)

Is this meant for new players. You guys took what felt like forever on the 8Jc turn bet when it it was an obvious bet that you explained well within less than 5 minutes.

Take this as - A. It is meant for basic players shut up Melting Clocks or B. Thanks for the constructive criticism

the point of this series is to illustrate that while many of you already know what to do in many spots, you might not know why

having the correct thought process is useful in infinite situations; having the correct action is limited in use to one situation

we are trying to help people think better, not merely tell them "3bet a lot in position LOL watch them fold"

its bet / (bet + pot), or 82 / (82 + 137) = 37.4%

as an approximation tool, you can just remember that a full pot bet needs to work 50% of the time, a 2/3 bet needs to work 40%, and a 1/2 pot bet needs to work 33%, and as they said in the video if you are off by a couple percent its not a big deal.

good vid guys.

Guys, loving the series. I don't think it gets enough love. People are just generally lazy and would rather want to watch KRANTZ spew off buy-ins at 2/4 than watch powerpoint glides and listen to good poker analasys and actually think. Keep it up.
