Villain is at a couple of my tables, playing 28/21 with 18,5 3b over 120 hands.

It felt weird betting this river, since my range will look sooo strong and nothing really missed so he would be insane to call it off with KJ or Qx. Also, how often does he value bet worse if I check?

I remember an Ansky video where he talks about a spot similar to this and he says x/f is probably pretty close to being the best play, if it actually isn't.

I like a check fold here but in game I'm sure I would play it the same (or I have in similar spots up to now).

Definately something that although doesnt come up that often is worth trying to build into our game

What vid is it?

Either one from Ansky's Antics or Finally Canadian, but don't remember exactly which one.

I have to admit that my first thought was that this is crazy. But some combos counting shows that c/f might actually be best.
Villain can have AJ, probably all 16 combos, as well as ADiamondQDiamond, QDiamondJDiamond,ADiamondTDiamond, JDiamondTDiamond, 33, TT. That is 23 combos, minus a couple if he would not flat AJo or QTs pre, or would 3bet TT.
Worse he can probably have up to 8 combos of AK (maybe 3bets half the time or so), 1 combo QTs, 2 combos KJs, 1 non diamond combo QJs,2 combos JTs, MAYBE still up to 7 non diamond combos AQ, or some JJ. Even in total that would just be 27 combos, while in reality he probably folds JJ always and AQ more often then not on the turn. If not, he will barely ever call river with worse then a K, which would leave 8 AK, 1 KJs and 2 QTs, so way less. So actually seems like quite a clear fold.

But given that, shouldn't we even check turn?

Do you mean bet/call or check/call with QQ/KK? Either way, I don't really think there's any real difference between QQ/KK and KQ.

Depending on how wide hero opens from UTG, don't we potentially have a shitload of flushes
(A2s, A4s, A5s, A7s-AQs, 78s-JTs, QTs) and of course 16 combos of AJ. Shouldn't we just bet/call with those hands and c/f everything else? As OP said, betting KQ for value doesn't make a ton of sense since we rep such a strong range and bluffcatching doesn't make sense for villain to do. I don't really see how that's any different with QQ/KK, because we basically block all the KQ combos that could potentially call, even though villain should probably realize that KQ is probably just a bluffcatcher and fold.

I don't really think c/calling makes any sense with any part of our range here, without any specific reads, because villain is probably only valuebetting hands like AJ and flushes, and an insignificant number combos of something elese. And for him to be bluffing he would have to have to be turning AQ or JTs into a bluff, which we can't be sure he ever does and even then, there are not that many combos depending on whether we block the Q's or not.

I really think that it's just a c/f, but in game I probably only realize that after I've bet folded Grin.
