It is obvious that DC is going to have to cut back on its content because of Black Friday. My problem is that they are not doing anything for all their loyal US customers. How can you reasonably expect us to pay full prices when there will be big cutbacks on the content. I would have to say the majority of us are not going to jump to Carbon poker because there is still fear of what possible ramifications are going to come from continuing to play online poker. I would not be surprised if DC continues to produce new videos but it likely will no longer be coming from a lot of their top pros. Am I out of line to think within the coming weeks or months, a lot of the coaches/producers we have been watching will be let go? I am not asking DC to hand out free subscriptions to their US members, but just something a little more equitable in line with what's going on presently and in the future. I cant speak for anyone else, but since April 15 I have watched only one video. I usually watch about 4-5 a week but just knowing that I can not apply anything I watch is kinda depressing. I really do want to continue to support the site but the whole situation is just frustrating. Kinda a tangent and rant.

My post didn't have a point, or much weight behind it. I'm sure there's many non-idiots who don't like Hey Ball.

And that's my point.

Also it's not really a poker podcast. They have more important things to discuss like on a man date at the movies whether you're meant to sit together or a seat apart. And poison.

We have no intensions of eliminating our paid content schedule.

In fact, we just hired three new coaches to strengthen out team: New Coaches announcement.

You should take a look at this thread: What does this all mean for DC? and feel free to add further comments there.

Sorry about the miss leading topic if any mod can change I like it it be "2 times a months = not ok".

Who every makes the jokes at "Hey Ball" it's not funny it's surly there are surly better comedians out there if I wanted somebody to entertain me. If I listen't to a poker podcast I want to strategy or good poker interviews and nobody even comes close to the quality of Bart's shows (I believe I tried all of them).

Well I feel sorry about your situation but I don't see why your members have to pay for it. Let's be honest when you started the site you had way less members then now and you still put out the same amount of videos and at that time and we even had top players making them. When your site grown we got worse videos (apart from the intros) in the same numbers as before.

So wtf do you pay Bart 10k a show or are you sitting at the office ordering escorts and doing blow all day long?

I would not go to that extreme but there is definitely some truth to some of what you said. As I said, I know they will continue to roll out new videos every week but is it going to come from top coaches like Baluga Whale, Gman or are we just going to get hit or miss content from the new and cheaper producers? I think everyone knows the answer to that question.

Hey all (and marodoren),

We appreciate the feedback. As Joe has said this hasn't been an easy decision for us, and is by no means a permanent decision. Since Deuce Plays is free content, we've had to cut back until we can see exactly how the impact is felt. We will re-evaluate and honestly will be taking threads like this into consideration when we re-evaluate, though I do have to say that posts like this:

So wtf do you pay Bart 10k a show or are you sitting at the office ordering escorts and doing blow all day long?

Make us a lot more likely to dismiss some of the things you've written. Despite that - we're doing the best we can in a period of time that is very uncertain for everyone. Insulting us certainly isn't going to help get your point across.

As far as Hey Ball goes, it's a piece of content that our some of our members enjoy, and is free for us to produce and deliver - unfortunately this isn't the case for DP. Rather than making DP a paid-only show, try to sell advertising in it, etc., we've opted for the time being - especially during a period when Bart is also making videos - to reduce its frequency.

To j2dalo:

It is obvious that DC is going to have to cut back on its content because of Black Friday. My problem is that they are not doing anything for all their loyal US customers.

We don't have any plans to "cut back" on content. You will see less live play videos from US instructors in the short-term while they figure their situations out, but we aren't going to allow for this to cause a decline in our content quality or production.

As far as accessibility/price go: we're working on ways to make the content as accessible as we possibly can. Regardless of whether you are immediately playing online poker, though, we feel that the content hasn't been devalued because of this and we aren't looking to create a lower-tiered paid plan at this point in time. We are, however, looking to find ways to bring membership to you for free using deals through DeucesCracked Rakeback, so I'd recommend keeping your eyes on that, in the event you do start playing again.

thanks,
Rob

Oh God, I wish I had the time to pick apart everything that's grievously wrong and horribly off-base about this post, but that would take weeks and I'd like to see some daylight.

You seem to like Deuce Plays. Great. Listen to it. You also seem to detest Hey Ball. Great. Ignore it.

US players can't really take advantage of that, can they?
I think the price at 30$ a month is really affordable though, and the subscription easily pays for itself for anyone who plays poker, but the content is definitely lacking recently.

And on the flipside, you still have non US subscribers, and knowing how things work here, the live poker/theory videos from coaches that can't currently play, will just replace the content that should be there for the non us players who can actually play online poker, not add to it.

To not be all negative, I'll say that I actually really enjoy Hey Ball, and hope the guys will just ignore the negative posts and keep it up.

I'm going to take another road on this and say thank you for keeping Deuce Plays around. If you listen to Bart he is obviously appreciative of the fact that he will continue to be broadcast on DC. That alone is enough for me to be pleased because I am sure all producers, admins and other people who run this site make knowledgeable educated decisions. It is a business after all.

In addition to all that we have to understand that 40% of DCs members have been effected. I am not saying that 40% are leaving, but surely a lot of people will not renew now that they can't play and cutbacks are going to have to be made. This is primarily an online instructional site, and for their only strategy podcast to be a live play production should be pleasing to all.

You cannot compare Deuce Plays and Hey Ball. Chuck and Joe work for DC and are also coaches, and I'm pretty sure do Hey Ball as a courtesy, fun past time for those that care to enjoy. As Rob said, Deuce Plays is not a free broadcast and I'm pretty sure Bart is considered an employee and is getting something for his time.

As for content not being up to par, I completely disagree. If you have watch all of WoT's Haj School and can honestly say that you watch every video actively, like he suggests and still think the content is poor, then maybe we can talk. But I know I don't take all those steps every time I study, and I would venture to say that not even Wilt does every single time. The content is what you make out of it, as is the site.

DC has been exceptional and leaps and bounds above other training sites because we have active members that care about learning and helping each other. Somehow we have been able to avoid the condescending, arrogant attitude that a lot of other poker communities, and the online poker world as a whole, tends to take on. I don't want to run anyone off, but it seems like since Black Friday the trolls have begin to pop up and I hope we can steer clear of that.

Thanks DC for keeping Bart around and I'm sure those in the US that want to be active and take advantage of what is offered will continue to do so.

it's really said to hear that deuceplays wont be a weekly show anymore.

But i got some suggestions to keep it as a weekly show you might consider.

You could switch every week between a free show and a show for subscribers. So 1 week is free, the next week is only for people with a subscription and so on(I would definatly subscribe again).

Or you could always make the latest show free and the archive for subscriptions only. Or reverse, the latest show is always 1 week exclusive for members with an subscription.

I hope you'll reconsider and make it a weekly show again, i really enjoy this podcast.

(sorry for my bad english, but i think you get the points i'm trying to make)

I'm not really adding anything to the discussion, but i have to say that

listen't

is my new favorite word.

On a serious note, I realize that like all US poker players, DC is in a tough place as far as figuring out what the next steps are. I trust them to make good decisions and am supportive of their attempts to please their US customers.

Like everyone else, I'm pretty gutted to see Deuce Plays cut back on its coverage. I know of nothing that comes even close to touching it for strategy-based content in a podcast format. If US poker becomes more live focused for some time no doubt Bart is going to prove to be a great asset to DC.

I appreciate that DC has some tough decisions to make, but here's hoping that we get to a position where it can be weekly again in the near future.

GL Nixon and Temco, I'll be sure to check out your podcast.

Finally, what is the intro music for Deuce Plays? It's freaking awesome for executing the following 'dance': hook one hand into belt, remain motionless until the baseline kicks in, then pelvic thrust in time to the drums. Surely I can't be the only one who does this? I can't believe it's only gonna be twice a month from now...
