Prior Poker Experience: Didn't discover poker until after college, wasted money on $1 SNGs and 2NL for a couple years. Found DC in the beginning of 2009, made barely any posts, watched a couple videos. June 2009, is when the full time pokering began. I have learned more in 2 months with DC than 2 years without it. Deposited $600 on FTP, starting 8 tabling 2NL, crushed it for 100bb/100 hands, did the same thing at 5nl. Tubasteve told me to stop being an idiot 8 tabling and play 4 tables, really concentrate and to move up to 10NL bc i had 75 buy-ins, and to play at least 10k hands at 10NL. I am 5000 hands into 10NL, winrate is 30bb/100. Bankroll is around $850. I am in TubaSteve and Ybother's Whack'Em Coaching Group.

Also I think it would be good if we like have a mess around home game once per month on like 2nl for the players that play 25nl + in the group that will give us time to relax and have a laugh?

Previous study material: Phil Hellmuths Play Poker like the Pros, Harrington on Holdem, Mike Caro's Book of Tells, a bunch of others, I just forget right now, going to get Daniel Negreanus book sometime
Forget EVERYTHING you learned in Phil Hellmuth's book, and don't buy Negreanus book.
I wouldnt really worry about any books... They are just a waste of money.
If you look at the books in my previous study material part, you don't need to read any other books than those.

+1 I would stay away from books for the most part for now. There is a lot of bad info in books (esp the ones by the "pros") and in order to get anything out of the books you have to be able to filter out the relevant information. Also in books its very hard to convey thought process so many of the situations you won't truely understand the underlying concepts.

Age: just turned 40 last month, looks like Im the old guy in here.
Prior Poker Experience: Started playing back in the 2003 rush on Party. Eventually with a lot of online community help worked my way up to $200NL FR and made just over $12k in 2006 playing when I got home from work. Quit my job in September to join a couple of friends that had already gone pro and they passed the UIGEA less than 30 days later. Was able to maintain a living for the next 8 months until I lost a good chunk of my BR in Vegas. I'll tell you the bad beats someday, you won't believe its possible. Anyway, came home got my old job back as a Project Manager for a large mechanical contractor and didn't play poker again until this spring. Deposited $100 bucks and started playing the $2NL to try to get back to $100NL by the end of the year.
Current Play Level:$10NL
Goal:$100NL by the end of 2009 and eventually back to try pro again

It's nice to see this thread hopping. ![]()
yeah ive noticed the stuff in hellmuths book isnt very applicable, good ideas for grinding limit in real life tho. harrington has some good things for tournaments. I only take what I can use, and forget the rest, most of what I learned was from articles and forum trolling.
Glad to hear all the responses guys i am still sifting my way through them anyways some quick updates...I had like 5 of you add me to skype and I think I already talked to 3 or 4 of you and I even had a very short sweat session. I am going to make a profile list for us soon I will be online a lot this weekend so feel free to im me. I am going to make us a new thread but I want us to pick a group name first which I am hoping we can do in a group meeting. That's all for now oh seems like almost everyone is fine with using skype and teamviewer so make sure u get it.
