Hi everyone, i bought the book and just finished reading it not long ago. It has already helped my alot and my game has improved so much, even though I dont understand alot the questions in the book.
I really agree with Jonk on the idea of moving the forum off DC. I am attempting to learn from the forum to clariy concepts but It is a mess and shit is everywhere. I feel like I am all over the place and 45minutes later I have found the answer to only 1 question. We need a page for question 1 and another for 2 etc. Its hard enough reading and learning and hoping to get it right, then to have to spend alot of time I dont have looking and weeding through a mess of posts is frustrating.
working on it!

QUestion for everyone.
We are OTB in a 6m game. UTG opens and it folds to us. We dont know much about his post flop game, but we have enough stats to know his UTG range.
So we know how much equity our hand has vs his range. My question is how much of a -ev spot are we willing to get into because we have position?
i.e. are we comfortable playing hands with 40% equity vs his range? 30%,20%,1%? Im talking about our flatting range here, not 3b...

Interesting question Donk. I open my calling range farily wide OTB, but I've never thought about assigning an equity value that I want to stay with. The most important info is the info you don't have which is how he plays post-flop. If he is capable of getting in with an overpair or top pair then I'm inclined to give up quite a bit of -ev pre for the chance to hit and stack him. Assuming his UTG range is tight I'll open up and play more suited connectors and such even though I know his range is way ahead. But if he is a small ball player and doesn't play big pots without the nuts then my chance of getting paid off is slim and playing -ev pre is not such a good idea. Position is very valuable though so 30-40 actual ev I think is plenty, and maybe even less depending on how good your post flop game is.
