you are most definitely doing something very wrong, as you never need more than 50% equity.
yep
you are most definitely doing something very wrong, as you never need more than 50% equity.
yep
Okay. Then what am I doing wrong?
No it's not. 1:1 is like betting $50 into a $50 pot. That's why if you are facing a PSB in PLO you are getting 2:1. $100: $50.
the measurement points aren't at the same spot here. In your first situation, there's a $50 pot, someone bets $50, and that's it. In the second situation, there is $100 in the pot and we have to call $50. Notice any similarities between these two situations? They're the same thing! If we take our measurement at the same spot (ie us calling once the bet has been made), in the first scenario there's $100 in the pot and we have to call $50...just like the second scenario. So you actually proved NWF right.
1:1 is like open shoving in an empty pot. Think about NLHE: UTG jams 500bbs pf, and it gets folded to you in the bb. If we ignore the blinds, there's a 500bb pot and you have to call 500bbs. THAT is 1:1, that is 50%.
Think about it this way with regards to pot equity. If you have >50% equity in a HU pot it means that the bigger the pot is the more you win, this is because with 50% equity you win more than half the pot. However its impossible to actually contribute more than 50% of the pot therefore the more money you get in HU with >50% equity the more you win. Therefore you cannot need more than 50% equity to stack off (assuming cash game, no rake).

As everyone has pointed you out but maybe this will help your thought process.
If you bet 50 into 50 and get called you are actually betting 50 to win 100. So its essentially 100:50 which is 2:1 which is 33.3333333%
Pot= $41.75, Our Stack= $54.59
To call: 1.897... :1 (Need to call $22 into $41.75) 1/2.897...= 34.5%
To raise all in: .764... :1 (Would raise $54.59 into $41.75) .764.../1.764...= 56.7%
This is how i work it out quickly
If pot=10 Stack = 20
Win: 10+20
Lose: 20
So to work out percent is : lose/lose+win
: 20 / 50
= 40%
In this eg.
Win: 41.75+54.59
Lose: 54.59
So = 54.59/41.75+54.59+54.59
Another way to think about it is Stack/(2*stack)+pot which is 36.39333%
See how this becomes a trivially easy all in now???
As you know I hate folding and I hate folding in PLO even more. Its probably the biggest mistake people make when they start out. This is the easiest all in the world...
Okay I see what you guys are saying.
Before: To raise all in: .764... :1 (Would raise $54.59 into $41.75) .764.../1.764...= 56.7%
After: To raise all in: 54.59/150.93= 36.1%
Is this right?

I was saying that if we bet $50 into a $50 pot we are laying ourselves 1:1 odds. Is that correct?

Yup, and the person who would call your bet is getting 2:1.

You dont need to look at the before number because if they fold you win....
Just look at the after number when you do get called so you know how much equity you need.
if we have more than a third equity three way, I'm thinking we can get it in 3way and always be profitable.
In this case, the only thing I think we should be concerned about is lower flushes, not because we don't want them to hit, but it takes two of our outs away twice and we can't think our over cards, even if we pair them, will give us the best hand.
But 3way, I don't think it's unprofitable unless someone has 4cards that are the same suit as our flush draw.
