Welcome to the PLO Dojo. DJ Sensei begins to train his students in the martial arts of 3-betting as they review select hands in the hand replayer this week.
DeucesCracked’s premiere Secret HQ series.
Rule one of PLO Dojo: We do not talk about PLO Dojo.
Rule two: DJ Sensei is your sensei.
Rule three: You will listen to your sensei.
Rule four: You will profit.

This should be awesome. Hei Sensei

At minute 41:00 AJKQ suited to the K in the BB. If the loose SB were to 3bet the loose BTN's open here is this a spot where we can open our 4bet range or are we always just flatting a 3bet with a hand like this? As played, what's our line if we get 4bet here by loose players in a shorthanded game?
On another note. I like the format and all of the input. As the sensei of the dojo it might add value if in each spot after the students give their input DJ points out where he agrees and disagrees with what's been said. It seemed like in some spots we just moved on without analysis, corrections or reinforcement from the sensei. I can assume this means DJ agrees with what's been said, but with a few different people offering opinions and statements at the same time a little more structure from the sensei might go a long way.
Looking forward to next week.
I could dig a light 4bet with our AKQJ since both guys are really loose and probably 3betting more hands that we're crushing. If we get 4bet, well, I'd probably call if I thought the dude was capable of 4betting light, but most aren't. This isn't a great hand to take up against a probable AAxx, so I might lay it down if it was his first 4bet.
And yea, anytime I move on to the next street/hand/topic its because I agree with the consensus of the team.
Well, that was quick. Didn't expect it to be up so soon.
What kind of HUD do you use? Where can you dl/buy?
Go to www.holdemmanager.net and download the Omaha one, or you can get both for like 135 I think. Also, I think DC might have some kind of deal worked out so you may want to check the forums for that.
I know I am late to the party but I really enjoyed this video as a beginning PLO player who has a lot of NLHE experience. I took a ton of notes and this is a great way to get my DC experience started. Thanks guys.

Nice to see other Bay Area folks here, I am also in Oakland . I just joined and am a serious beginner, any advice on finding a coach or people to chat with in Oakland that could get me pointed in the right direction, I have been playing daily for a year now in NLHE / PLO and feel like i have really hit a wall, not having other players to discuss hands with seems to be really hurting my improvement and i think an hour or two of coaching might also help - but i cannot afford much unfortunately (out of work IT Consultant), signing up for Deuces Cracked was my last ditch effort within my price range, are there coaches that are more affordable than the 400/hr rates i have seen listed?
Sorry to ask such noob questions but i am really just looking to be pointed in the right direction and hopefully find some folks in the Bay Area that might be willing to offer advice.

Hi Turbo -
Thanks for checking out the vid. I do some PLO coaching myself, and so does n0whereman for pretty reasonable rates, so if you'd like more information feel free to shoot him or I a PM.
In regards to your other questions, I know there's many people on the forums who are in the same situation as you are. I'm not sure about finding other players specifically in the Bay Area, but there's new beginner groups that are constantly being formed that are pretty good for learning, so be on the lookout for those. You can also probably make a post in the PLO forums to find some players who are in the same boat as you. Eager-to-learn players are all over the place here
.
Holler,
John

Check out the Secret HQ forum and the PLO forum and you'll be able to find some people in similar positions to talk poker with. Thats really the best way to improve as a player, at least for free. (Obv videos and private coaching are also awesome)
As for bay area in particular, I know there are some other bay area PLO players on here, so you should probably be able to find enough for a little group.

Did you intend to ship this flop if he raised?
If so, do you ship vs everyone except the very nitty players?
Do you 3bet this hand vs a nitty player?

I'd probably betfold the flop this deep, we're just not in very good shape against a raising range. I probably wouldn't pot it either, because pot-folding feels a lot worse than 2/3-folding.
