UTG ($82.53)
Hero ($25.22)
CO ($26.81)

Dealt to Hero KHeart 7Club ASpade THeart

UTG raises to $0.85, Hero calls $0.85, fold, fold, fold, fold

FLOP ($2.05) JHeart KClub 7Diamond

[color=red]UTG bets $1.55, Hero raises to $4.12, UTG raises to $14.41, Hero ?

I was new to the table so pretty readless, I do believe he had iron man status so I give that some small amount of respect. On this flop, which I would see as relatively dry, am I ever stacking off here? And does it ure answer change seeing that I have a gutter plus backdoor FD? Any input is appreciated.

I'm not sure I call here preflop, our ace is not suited, we're facing an UTG raise and we could still get squeezed behind. Make the hand something stronger like AHeart KSpade THeart 8 Club and I'm playing the hand, though probably 3betting preflop since I think the hand will play better that way. I'm curious what others think about preflop, as I can't say I feel very confident in assessing how to play these hands against raises.

I think I would fold to the 3bet unless you think UTG is psycho. What worse hands would he 3bet here? Best case scenario is he has a wrap; worst case he has KK, JJ or KJ.

But that raises an interesting point: since you can't stack off if he 3bets you, what is the purpose of your flop raise? What worse hands are you getting value from? All you seem to be accomplishing is reopening the betting and giving your opponent the chance to blow you off of your equity. This is especially bad because you have the gutshot and backdoor flush draw; if you a hand like KDiamond TDiamond TSpade 7Spade, raise/folding would be better because you'd have much less equity when behind.

I think the best plan on this flop is to call the flop bet and assess what to do on the turn depending on what falls and what action your opponent takes. That seems like the best way to use your position. As played, you seem to have fallen into the trap that I had when I first started playing PLO -- raising right away anytime I had a strong hand because I didn't want to deal with tough decisions on later streets.

sweetjazz says good things.

Preflop is mostly a fold, flop is a call. If we had AKT8ss I'd still probably flat just because 3betting UTG openers with a hand that plays decently multiway is probably preferential to running into a hand that dominates ours. Move us over a spot or two to MP vs CO or CO vs BTN and I'd prefer a 3bet.

I fold preflop, call flop. I like the 3B in a later position with a better hand, as per delcross.

You don't have top two, you have top-bottom two, on the flop.

As played, I expect to see sets and BBBB a lot in Villain's hand.

I agree with what's been said so far. I'd fold this hand preflop unless the A is suited or you have AKT9+. On the flop, I hate raising. You have a backdoor K high flush draw and a gutshot to the nuts. If you raise, he's never going to repot you with a hand you're ahead of and you have so much value in seeing some turns and rivers.

I'd also add that even if you had AKJT, I like flatting the flop. You get into really good situations on the turn when a blank comes and he bets out thinking you are drawing with hands you have crushed that would have just folded to your flop raise.
