Hi, I think this is my first ever post in the NL full ring forum but I've been doing pretty well at the microstakes full ring game on merge recently but I wanted to get some opinions on a hand I played.

The CO is about average tightness preflop, doesn't get to crazy and plays fit or fold on the flop
The Button is just an awful poker player, calling down way too much and is fairly passive.

Merge Network $0.02/$0.04 No Limit Hold'em - 8 players - View hand 1755125
DeucesCracked Poker Videos Hand History Converter

MP2: $4.27
CO: $4.00
BTN: $4.22
SB: $4.00
Hero (BB): $8.70
UTG: $6.06
UTG+1: $4.00
MP1: $5.13

Pre Flop: ($0.06) Hero is BB with Q Club K Club
UTG calls $0.04, 3 folds, CO raises to $0.16, BTN calls $0.16, 1 fold, Hero calls $0.12, UTG calls $0.12

Flop: ($0.66) Q Diamond 3 Diamond 3 Spade (4 players)
Hero bets $0.30, UTG folds, CO calls $0.30, BTN calls $0.30

Although donking is something that I very rarely do, I decide to do it here because the CO will only bet if he hit the queen or has an over pair, I wanted to make sure any diamond draw or overcard had to pay for the draw so I led out.

Turn: ($1.56) 5 Spade (3 players)
Hero bets $1.00, CO folds, BTN calls $1

After getting called on the river, I figure I'm most likely up against a diamond draw. Just based on the types of hands that I've seen the villain play. weaker queens are also possible. With this player an Ace is also possible with him, so I decide to bet out. After he calls I'm sure he is on a diamond draw or a weaker queen.

River: ($3.56) A Diamond (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $1.20, Hero folds

Final Pot: $3.56
BTN wins $3.39
(Rake: $0.17)

On the river, I don't want to pay off the hand that I think he likely has, so I hope that he checks back the flop but he decideds to bet 1/3 pot. I really don't think he is bluffing that often and I don't think he would bet with the queen. I could be wrong but I guess I'm just looking for some alternative theories, possibly bet/fold the river instead of check/fold. I'm not sure.

I think I'm gonna call at 1/3 pot size bet. I'm a sucker for 4:1, and the river is a very scary card for someone to bluff on.

Hmmm without doing math I think I like shoving here for value mostly or betting/folding 1/3 pot. My reasoning would be that given your reads villain most likely won`t fold Qx or even some kind of PP and while flush hits it`s not that likely he has one, while A Diamond looks scary it actually is a good card for you (Q Diamond and A Diamond removes quite a few likely suited hands and it`s unlikely villain gets to the river with A).

Anyone else like squeezing here pre?
I like KQs but most hands - esp online - are so tough to play OOP.

Tough to fold given the pot odds; Armisan makes some good points though - what flush draw has he been calling with? KJ?

AQ is a possibility, and if you shove I don't think he'll fold top two...
...If it was me shoving, he probably turns over top set for a rivered house.

Thinking about it, folding is probably correct.

One could certainly squeeze here preflop. It's not mandatory, but it is a profitable move.

I was thinking about squeezing, but I really didn't think I would get a fold and I didn't want to play a 3bet pot oop. I don't like the idea of shoving on the river either, because this guy won't fold an ace if he was calling with one. I think bet/fold, or check/call, or check/fold are the only viable options against this opponenet. After thinking about it, I woulnd't put it past ths guy to show up with some random 3 either or even catching a full house on the turn. He's allready called 2 big bets. I think the more I think about it, I like my line. Of course, hearing other oppinions is certainly worth considering.

i think you played it well. i think check/calling or donking are fine here. i would donk a little bigger though. turn is fine as well. and on the river he will very likely just check back worse made hand and its hard for him to have some hand he can bluff with so good fold imo.

Well you are just thinking of the hands that beats you only. Just construct the range of ALL possible hands he can get to the river, count combos that a) will call a shove b) will call 1/3 pot bet c) will bet river if you check, do some EV calc and you`ll see which option is the best.
