A situation that I seem to run into a whole lot at the casino is being card dead

I literally will be getting hands like J 3 off and 9 2 off over and over for 3-4 hours

And then the 1 or 2 times that I do get real hands like pocket 22 or ADiamond QDiamond, I totally miss the flop

What am I supposed to do? Float a 6Spade 7Spade 8Spade flop with ADiamond QDiamond ?

What is the best action to take when card dead for extended periods of time? Request a table change? Move seats?

I usually just stay at the same table but move seats. But it still seems that more of the same card dead for hours situation just continues.

This helps me, personally

i assume you know changing seats/tables won't change your fortune. the only thing you can do is work on improving your patience. the best thing to do would be to work on developing reads. i think it's sub-optimal but if you find yourself playing poorly due to boredom then find something to make you less bored, like music or reading.

Being card dead is a great opportunity to practice your poker skills. When you're not involved in a hand you can (and should) be:

Pretending you're playing other people's hands.

Try to put villains on ranges based on their actions.

Decide if a villain's line for the hand (or street, or whatever) is the best one available. Give villain a few different possible hands and think about how you think they would play out. Consider how you would react to villain's actions if you were in the hand. Think about bet sizing, try to pick up villain tells/tendencies, etc.

Basically, give all of your attention to the action at the table and learn, learn, learn. Free information on your opponents, plus you aren't in the action so you can do extra stuff like consider alternative lines, try to put each villain on a range, think about how you'd play the hand out, etc.

There's so much you should be doing when you don't have a hand to play that, honestly, it's just as exhausting as when you do have cards.

Thanks Luke for the serious response. You seem to be someone who has brains.

As for the others, I am truly starting to understand the meaning of poker degens.

Talk to the other players
Watch hands and try and hand read/get reads on other players
Listen to music
Get the eight fold path on mp3 and listen to that whilst going all the breathing stuff.
Think what you are going to spend all your winnings on
Order beer
Move on to rum/spirits
pass out drunk then wake up in a hotel room full of poker chips and hookers

It's so weird that your threads end up derailed by rudeness.

I can't help myself. I feel like gambling with middle set on draw heavy boards.

I'm with you TravD... sick of the brainless degen responses such as the one above.

I apologize for not including sthief09 in the convo of intelligent people.

He gave very good advice and I somehow missed it because all I could think about in the heat of the moment was pounding snarbles face in, but sthief09 also posted a picture of a beer and it ticked me off also

Yeah well I bet you are the donk last night at the casino who put $300 plus in on the turn with just a small straight draw and small flush draw in a $1/$2 game

I am going to stop posting because you guys don't help my game at all. You only tilt me and make me play worse. I used to be a winning player and by listening to advice in these forums my game has steadily took a nose dive

Im going back to the ABC poker fundamentals

Peace
