My first post on the forums was such a success that I feel compelled to do it again

At first glance this hand might seem like a no brainer of a hand that plays itself, but I am curious if I might have been able to take a different line

$1/$2 NL
Folds around to Hero in MP with 9Heart 9Spade
Hero raises to $10
Villain #1 in CO calls
Villain #2 on the button also calls
Blinds fold

Stack sizes:
Hero $145
Villain #1 $80
Villain #2 $375

Pot = $32 after $1 drop
Flop = 9Club QDiamond 3Diamond

Hero leads out for $25 into the $32 pot with his set of 999's

Villain #1 insta shoves the remaining $70 he has
Villain #2 goes into the tank for about 3-4 solid minutes and then shoves

At this point I am fist pumping and cannot wait to call with my set thinking that I am about to scoop a huge pot

So I call off the rest of my $110

Of course I lose the hand and am forced to hit the rail, but I was wondering if the line I took could have been different? Or was it optimal? I insta called and did not even try to take time to think and put Villains on any type of ranges. I realize that I have a set here which is pretty much 2nd nuts on that flop but if I would have really thought about that flop texture, I currently only have 7 outs to hit my full house and have to fade half the deck to a flush draw and straight draw. I could also already be beat with a set of QQQ's which is common for these players in my $1/$2 game to set mine with

So...could I ever fold there?

Could I have bet less on the flop or checked that flop?

That hand was one of those hands that really stuck with me in my mind where I desperately want some answers and direction

There's nothing else you can do here. Just get the money in and if they suck out, oh well. You can only get it in with the best hand, which you almost certainly have on the flop. Nice hand.

Yes. You are 100% correct. I am under-rolled at the current moment and time in life.

And even when I do become over-rolled, I still will not enjoy giving my money away.

Sorry if you think that I am playing with scared money but I prefer to call it playing smart.

I used to be the same way. Unfortunately playing too nitty will actually cost you a great deal of money and won't be smart at all. Learning to recognize instances where you got your money in good and being able to handle losing money in those spots is absolutely crucial to actually playing smart.

Is this a serious thread?

You have middle set with less than 100bbs behind. Of course you get it in on that flop.
Are you saying if you don't have QQ you'd b/f the flop?

What I am saying is that I might have been able to play the extremely wet flop differently when the pot was multi-way. I might have been able to see a turn card cheaply instead of putting myself into the bad situation of having to call an all in.

Yes, deciding to play for stacks on that flop is a no brainer.
No, deciding to play for stacks when the 10Diamond comes on the turn is not so easy.

Make sense?

You contradict yourself when you say "deciding to play for stacks on that flop is a no brainer" & "I might have been able to see a turn card cheaply instead of putting myself into the bad situation of having to call an all in"

You want all the money in the middle on the flop but you also want to see a turn card cheaply. You can't have both.

The best result here is to get two other players to stick all the money in the middle whilst ahead and not allowing them to draw out on you for free. You're right you might not want to play for stacks when the 10Diamond comes on the turn, which is why you get it in before the turn if possible.

I think you have to come to terms with the fact you can play a hand well and still lose the pot. In fact you can play 10000 hands of poker well and still lose money. That's poker.
