Hi im new to deuces cracked and have been playin 1/2 live alot lately and am wondering if this is a good bluff spot

My stack is 220$ and Villian is button with about 375$ So i had Griniamond 8 Griniamond 9 and raised to 12$ middle position the button who seemed pretty active 3 bet me to 35$ i called the 35$

FLOP

:club 4 :spade 5 :club 6

Villian continue bets for 50$
Hero Jams for 135$ more

So i put him on AK or AQ maybe even KQ cause his range is very wide and i felt i had a good read on him do you guys think its a good bluff spot or suicide ill tell results after

Before we discuss whether this is a good spot to bluff, you should probably consider whether calling a 3b with 89s is profitable. Then, tell us why you put him on AK. As for the spot itself, without a proper reason and read, this is just a bluff with hope that he'll fold. What are you trying to represent? Why did you assign him the range you assigned? What does he think of you?

This isn't meant to insult you in any way, but you are clearly a beginner. Your thought process is very basic, but the good news is that you are in the right place to improve Smile

the main problem with this is that it assumes he just about always bets his AK, AQ, KQ, etc. which he should not. also realize that when he has AcKc, AcQc, etc. he's calling you and you're in bad shape. he may also sooner 3-bet stuff like 55 and 65s before he 3-bets QJo and that's another problem.

the base assumption you made that this flop is not great for an aggressive player's 3-bet range is correct. from there, you have to take his betting range into consideration, which it appears you did not.

and finally, knowing how the #s work is very helpful as well. think about what you're risking, how much dead money there is, and your equity when called.

Fold preflop. 98s plays poorly OOP in a 3b pot.

Easy fold pre you can't call off that much. As played on the flop it's a jam and hope he can ever fold bare overs.

GL tonight. If you want to improve your thought process, I highly recommend checking out the vast array of videos in the DC library. Bart Hanson has a series dedicated to live NL for instance.
