I was watching a DC video the other day, can't remember which, and the coach said 'don't be afraid to experiment'.
I've been doing just that in certain spots. Here's an interesting one which has worked well vs TAGs so far for me, if used sparingly.
If you're stealing from the BT or SB and a TAG in the BB re-raises, I've found a flat call, followed by a bluff re-raise on appropriate flops gets +EV results.
What do you think? Super risky or worth keeping in my arsenal against right opponent?

What do you think you're repping here with this line? If I was villain I'd put you on some 4x junk or a slow-played overpair. I'd fold a weak jack here and of course all of my air. If I had AJ/KJ I'd be thinking really hard about it. Its either fold or shove. AA/KK/QQ I'm never folding, but I'm not going to be happy about putting all my money in.
If I think you could be re-stealing I'm probably going broke with JT+ or 88+ here.
I like moves like this against the right opponent. If you think he'll fold more than 50% of the time to your raise on the flop then by all means.
So far as keeping this in your arsenal - absolutely. You want to pick spots like this partly for the +ev steal and to manage your image. It'll help you get paid off when you hit that big hand and you want to raise for value.

Thanks for the feedback prag.
I find this works particularly well when ATS is running quite high, say 35-40%. Smarter regs begin to notice and start playing back with BB 3-bets, probably a little lighter than they would normally.
They're range is weaker, hence flatting their raise makes them think twice, and a check raise on the flop sows that final seed of doubt, very often. Perhaps this is the time I really do have a monster on the BT or SB. It also has the benefit of slowing down a villains re-steals from the SB.
Looking at results, I'm getting folds more than 50% of time, so happy to continue to use for the time being.
Great point about image and getting paid off, btw.

This is like....the last board I'd ever try this on. If we're going to take a bluff line, I'd rather c/c OOP and then lead the river if checked back to on the turn. In most dynamics, we'd probably be 4betting wider for value given that we're bvb so it's tougher for us to have QQ+, and c/raising AJ if we have it here seems like a great way to let our opponent play perfectly. If your opponent can hand-read at all and your image isn't super-nitty, they should realize that it's really hard for you to have a value hand and can then shove their entire range (or at least the OPs and overcards (probably even with only one spade)hands profitably.

Thanks for the response RE. Glad villain couldn't hand read so well in this hand!
Your explanation of why this is a bad board is very clear and makes perfect sense. One quick question
- what type of board texture would this move be credible on - I'm beginning to wonder whether the whole flat 3bet, c/r flop in these spots ever makes any logical sense, even if it works against certain villains.
