Guys, I completely new to the site but I'm begging you for your help. Do not want ANY staking at all, so please don't think that's what I'm asking for. I just NEED to improve my game ASAP! I've played online constantly for a few years now and have had some great results. I have never needed to redeposit since my initial start in the online world. I have had some great runs, especially last summer. But have recently ran into alot of bad habits I've created myself. This has been emphasized all the more since I lost my job just prior to Thanksgiving with not much on the horizon as far as job prospects go. I am in quite a unique situation in that my wife had just started to work just prior to me losing my job. She believes in my ability because she has seen the results of my poker work. I've started back to studying but still, I leave more from others who play online daily, trying to grind away. I'm too much of a NIT, I'm sure of that. I play on Cake so I've never signed up with Poker Tracker, etc because I've been told I can't use it with their hand histories. I would REALLY APPRECIATE feedback on what hands I should look to 3 Bet more with preflop. I know that this is probably a huge leak for me. I feel that I could do a much better job reading opponents hands if I play back at them more preflop. But I've gone against my golden rule of overplaying my bankroll and now it's below what my rakeback is for this month. Please help me become a consistent winner again so I can continue to follow my dreams. Thanks in advance for everyone's help, and thanks for reading this long post. I just really need all the help I can get right now!
Thanks again

Also, I've gotten into a REALLY bad habit of limping too many small pocket pairs from EP. I've used this to make a ton of money in the past but now I'm playing too many times OOP heads up. I know, HUGE MISTAKE, not patient enough! Any suggestions which hands I should be folding from EP? Should I be looking to play only 9's or better from EP? I full ring only. Thanks guys!

Without stats or hands, it is very, very hard for anyone to say anything very useful to you.

I think you can use PT3/HEM with Cake, but not a HUD, correct? If that is the case, then you need to invest in a tracker-type utility ASAP and start getting hands in there for analysis. Even without the heads-up display, these tools are invaluable and necessary for anyone that wants to take a look at their game and find leaks.

As for your questions... it depends. The only hands I consistently (not always, but probably 90% of the time) three-bet pre-flop are aces and kings and AK suited. Otherwise, it is extremely opponent-dependent. Some players I 3-bet without mercy and with a wide range. Some people I would never 3-bet without AA/KK. There really isn't a formula and a lot of your opinion of this will depend on how comfortable you feel post-flop.

Same thing with limping small PP. In EP, I am generally folding anything below 77, but at a table full of limpy/weak types, I will start opening my limping range in EP a fair amount to smaller PP and suited connectors. But I would never, ever do this at a table where I am out of position to guys that I know are going to raise/squeeze/steal, etc..

What limits are you currently playing? How many tables? What is your bankroll? These sorts of things might help folks here better advise you. But the best advice I can give is to find out if you can use a non-HUD tracker and then get it and load your hands in here.

Best of luck.

I am definitely having to check my ego. I was playing 400NL last summer but due to taking kids on vacation and using bankroll for fun money instead of reinvesting, have seen it plummet drasactically. My bank is down to 1000 now and I have to just suck it up and drop back to 50NL, but seems like there are soooo many flush chasers at that level, it is hard to maintain my sanity. But I also realize that is where I cut my teeth and made it to the bigger games because of the fish in those games. But still tough on the ego! I have always played at least 100 -200NL but will only be playing at 50NL until bankroll is back up and not before I can start back to my winning ways. I usually only prefer to 3 bet with AA or KK, sometimes with AK but usually only get into trouble with AK on missed flops. I look to limp just about any pocket pair from any position because I know that it most instances, I can stack someone when I hit. But I know I'm seeing too many flops heads up in these situations. Just plain and simply playing terrible poker, overplaying my bankroll and overplaying overpairs. The same hands I'm usually looking to bust someone with, instead of folding after missing, I'm stacking off vs flopped sets. Just terrible poker lately. But I really do appreciate your time and input.

PS Usually play 6-8 tables at 100 and 200NL full ring

if you think limping small pairs is a bad idea you probably shouldn't do it.
