Button villian is a TAG 12/9/4.3 over 554 hands pretty aggressive
EP villian is 10/3/1.6 fairly passive

this was the 2nd hand after joining the table:

Full Tilt Poker $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em - 9 players - View hand 14740
The Official DeucesCracked.com Hand History Converter

CO: $10.00
BTN: $46.95
Hero (SB): $50.00
BB: $14.20
UTG: $53.00
UTG+1: $55.20
UTG+2: $70.85
MP1: $40.00
MP2: $50.50

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is SB with Q Spade A Diamond
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $0.50, 4 folds, BTN raises to $2.50, Hero calls $2.25, 1 fold, UTG+1 calls $2

Flop: ($8.00) J Heart A Spade 2 Diamond (3 players)
Hero checks, UTG+1 checks, BTN bets $4, Hero calls $4, UTG+1 folds

button is agro but with Utg+1 behind me I feel its better to flat call his cbet just in UTG+1 limped a big ace or pocket JJ or something nasty.
he folds after my call so he's outta the way.

Turn: ($16.00) K Diamond (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN checks

I check planning on calling if he fires again, I don't want to get check raised here because I'll have a hard time determining AJ or AK and AJ and AK are definately in his range along with alot else so I'm waiting to see what his action here on the turn is, well, he checks behind me. Now I'm a bit worried he might have two pair.

River: ($16.00) 8 Spade (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $8, Hero requests TIME, Hero raises to $27.50

Now the river, I was content to play this safe and check it down on the river but now his river bet changes my mind. He has to be pretty sure I have an ace, and if he has a good hand my thought is he would bet at least 12-13 for value with his AJ or AK and frankly I don't think he checks behind the turn with either of those with a flush draw out there unless maybe he was on the draw. So, my turn fear of his check behind gone I just decide he's weak and I made a mistake by not putting him all in, I think I left like 4 or 5 in his stack by only raising to 27 but is this donkish, was I smelling fear correctly or did I make a bonehead raise. I can take it, be truthful.

Final Pot: $32.00

I don't ever post... so take this with a grain of salt. I'm trying to be more active in my learning this year so here are my thoughts on the hand:

1) Why did you flat pf? I usually reraise here, partly to get rid of the early limper, the btn folds often, plus I just think AQ is strong enough here (maybe this is spew?)

2) On the river you think he puts you on an ace, but you don't like his bet size so you raise... is that for value or as a bluff? Are you expecting to be called by a worse hand here a lot? I'd just flat the river, but I could be missing a lot of value if he calls with a worse 1 pair hand often.

1) well, I'm figuring I can extract some dough from the button if I hit the ace because he's pretty aggressive, the early limper as far as I'm concerned gets a free ride, I can get away from AQ if need be.

2) yeah, exactly, I know maybe this is a huge leak but that is a dangerous board, I'm not expecting to get called and if I do get called obviously I'm beat (most likely) but even if I do get called I think it's good for getting paid later in the session because they won't respect my raise per say especially a river raise. I just think he doesn't have a hand that can call me. I'm trying to fold him out and like I said if he has a better hand he calls and I lose. This isn't my normal play here but I've started looking for spots where I think this will work. this happened to be one of them where I thought it would.

First I usually 3bet here. If the BTN is iso-ing a large range here a 3bet takes down a nice little 11bb pot.

flop - I wouldn't be worried about CRing here and having the UTG+1 limper raise you. I would think that he would raise a big A or a big pair PF. If not initially, I think he would have LRR'd with a big pair. Only hand I would be concerned about UTG+1 having is 222. He folded anyway to the villains Cbet so whatever. With all that being said, I'm not sure CRing the villains Cbet is best. He's going to fold most hands that are worse and if he has big hand he obviously isn't going anywhere. So I think flatting the Cbet is best. You have a small pot sort of hand so I would keep it that way.

turn - I think I usually check here as well. If the villain made a big bet I'm not sure what I would do. He checked so...ok.

river - This is where I think the biggest problem with the hand is. Granted with a hand like AK/AJ/or even a set, we can say that he shouldn't be checking behind the turn, but maybe sometimes he does. His river bet may be a small value bet with a big hand or it can also be a small bet trying to win the pot because he has no SD value. Either way I think a CR is spew. He's only calling it with hands that beat you and is folding everything that you have beat.

So in conclusion, yeah, I think the river CR is a bonehead move.

There, you happy I responded! Grin

I figured that's what you were doing pf, and I can definetly understand the argument for it... I don't think I'm ever really thrilled playing AQ oop vs 2 ppl though. If you're counting on only taking the pot when you flop an A then I don't think you'll make enough off the aggressive guy to make up for the times you're outflopped / fold to cbet.

and you're absolutely right about the FR forum being dead..

I play 200nl but no need to thank me for "stepping down". Discussing the hand helps me as much as it may help you. And I'm sure I'll post a hand that you can help me with as well.

Yes they are sort of dead. Any ideas to liven things up?

PF - 3bet
Flop - check/call is fine
Turn - check
River - call. AJ, AK, A2s, KJ and Q10 all got there and in btn raising range for sure. You beat A10 south only. He folds bluffs and Jx to you raise.

I'm not sure what to do about it... Maybe some sort of theory discussion that would get everyone involved. I'll post some hands as soon as I find one that Isn't reasoned with "I did that cause of tilt"... I don't think that's really the problem tough. Really I just don't see a lot of different posters. Perhapse it's a situation of quality > quantity anyway.

Actually I have a river bluff I tried the other day I could post too Grin.

Please do! I'm playing a lot of 50NL these days too and want more FR discussion! I've been lurking a bit, but will start posting some difficult hands I've had pretty soon.
