I used to raise 77+ from EP and 22+ from MP but now I open 22+ from EP. Is this a mistake? Should EP be 88+ when it come to PP? Does it matter?

I've had this conversation with a bunch of people and opinion seems split down the middle.
I reckon they are probably marginal +EV if the games are tight passive (i.e you get a lot of folds on the flop) or where there are a couple of mega fish that the implied odds of getting one of them to the flop and hitting a monster are excellent.
In more aggressive games they are probably EV neutral, maybe even a little -EV and I believe they only leave you playing OOP to often with little equity and that just sucks.
Even if they are slightly +EV long term it's so marginal that I prefer dropping them to allow me to focus on the really +EV spots in late position.
Cliff notes - Meh.
Yeah I generally just open 77+ in the first 3 or so spots. If there's a big fish in the blinds though then any pair is usually an open.
the ep-raisingrange depends on the btn and co very much as well
if there r players who just love to 3bet ip u should raise less hands bc u obv have to fold these low PPs then
btw do i prefer to raise SCs like 67s more than small PPs bc with a PP u only hope to flop a set or to get the pot with a cb.
with SCs, in contrast, u flop more often playable hands to proceed
I try to base my decision on the table dynamics. If the table is particularly tight and my image is particularly tight, I think opening any PP in MP and 88 UTG is a reasonable play because you can win the pot there or on the flop if you miss. If the table is particularly aggressive or loose, from EP I tend to toss anything less than 99. In MP, 88+ become more viable. I basically try to assess my fold equity or implied odds. If I have players who either won't fold or it'll take 2 or 3 barrels and they may even re-raise me to put me to the test, I prefer to look for a better spot. If I have players who just won't stack off light or even good and pay me when I hit a set or overpair, it's almost like most of the profit is coming from pre-flop anyway.
