Now this is usually an easy fold for me here. However, I just runnered him in a previous hand (bluffing 2 streets) to a straight for 50bbs and reckon he might be a bit pissed at me.

I figure he might do this with QJ or 22.

10/9 is what I'm really worrying about here.

This is a gross spot. I don't see someone with those stats raising anything that you beat here. I'd expect him to raise 22 or QJ on the turn, trying to get mor money in the pot. It definitely looks like he turned an open ender and got there on the river. I doubt i find a fold here... i generally call, curse, and complain about how bad i run.

Well for me, this is an EASY fold normally. But in this case, because I just nailed 50bbs by bluffing at him then making a hand by the river, I figured we had to factor in (a) I was very capable of bluffing or semi-bluffing (b) he might be slightly steamy. Maybe I'm getting too deep thinking but I'm factoring his image of me into what his river shove is saying.

Assuming I have AQ here and he has QJ. I can see him putting me on AQ the way I played the hand. I would play AQ the same here. And by shoving the river, he thinks his QJ is good here.

Let's assume he has 22 as an alternative. He's going to check the flop based on my previous image as a guy who will bluff at the first sign of weakness. If I've missed, he wants me to catch up on the turn. Consequently I can see him shoving the river with 22 also. I've given him some indication I have a hand and will pay off.

Anyway, I decide to call. It's not based on stats or action but his image of me and what went down in a hand 2 minutes prior.

He shows 10/9 for the straight. Puke.

knowing the result, this might sound a bit contrived.
but with a set on the flop, make more pot sized bets.

and omg, bet the flop man.

Oh I'm checking that pretty innocent flop every time. He'll bluff that board a lot I think.

With 22 I think we can fold pretty confidently but with 77 we gotta stack off here.

The PF raiser should bet this flop 99% of the time, so i think the hero checking with intent to CR is the best play. Id rarely lead out here, unless i was positive opponent would raise my donk lead.
