First off, ty for another great vid.
Seeing the effects of 1BB being shifted around really opened my eyes as to just how delicate these situations are. Had no idea that it effected things this drastically. This is something that I need to dig much deeper into, and probably has some correlation to why I bust on the bubble a lot with high blinds and several short stacks.
You mentioned possibly doing a SnGWiz video. This would be fairly helpful, I think, as the GUI setup is considerably different between it and SnGPT. Have to admit that the SnGPT seems easier to manipulate then SnGWiz. I probably just need more time behind Wiz to be able to alter things as easily as it seems in PT.
Once again TY for taking us a little further down the ICM rabbit hole
Cheers

Hi all, I'm a new member here at DC.
Thanks Alex for a great video series, made me decide to stay hear.
Play a lot of 5 table $10+1 SNG's and these videos has really helped me become a better player.
Anyway, just wanted to mention for anyone interested that there is a 30 day free trial for the SngWiz (no affiliation). One feature is to run it in "quiz mode", the software then puts you in situations where you have to decide to either push/call or fold a certain hand based on your hand, position, blind level, villains calling ranges etc. Found that feature to be very helpful in understanding how it all works together.

legalizeit,
thanks
I wanted to make sure you were noting that the mtt-sng's require looser pushing and calling ranges as the game progresses, so things like the highly debated QT fold in an earlier episode would definitely be a push in most mtt situations whereas it wouldn't be in the particular STT situation that was indicated. But yes most of the general strategy can be applied to mtt-sng's as long as you're adjusting, except for bubble stuff I guess. good luck!
Hypnotic,
Word! Haha, I figured that's what was going on too.

Sorry for OT, but why is it that my pushing and calling ranges should be looser as the game progresses in mtt sngs compared with stt?

because it's a top heavier prize structure (look at the ~30-33% itm payout for STTs vs the ~15ish% payout of mtt-sngs) and not very harsh bubble implications compared with STTs. Also, the stacks gets much shorter as the blinds go even higher/deeper/further in mtt's so it's extremely important that we stay ahead of the huge blinds and ante's and steal pots where people are folding too much (this mistake is more costly in mtt's when the stacks are super short such as what you'd see in the small fields) and where there is a *ton* of dead money that is more significant to you in the mtt context.

but do final tables of MTTs revert back to STT mode as discussed? I think perhaps my weak tight play when i first started playing poker did far better at final tables than my laggy cash game play.
In a matter of speaking, yes. It certainly depends on the payout structure specifically as to specific strategy adjustments, but MTT final tables with an ascending payout structure often play very similarly to an STT. Weak tight play can often bump you up a bit for those 6, 5 and 4 handed payout jumps I spose
