I occasionally find myself in spots where I can shove and end the match, but is it the best play because the player may be discouraged and not want a rematch? I mean if they are bad enough to call you then maybe you should bet pot or 2x pot so that they will play you again?
I mean maybe there is range of fishes from 0-10 and you may not want to shove against a level 1 fish but your edge may be smaller against a level 10 fish and you may want to shove...
Is there some meta game strategy to keep bad players playing you like folding some hands in small pots preflop and post flop?

I don't think this is a good idea, but with a specific situation given I might be swayed. Anyway, it can be calculated: you figure out the EV lost by not shoving, than figure out your expected EV of playing another game with him and multiply that by the difference in how often he'll play with you due to not shoving, and compare numbers.

thanks for the reply! would you shove with the 2nd nuts like the 2nd 2card str8 on a 3 flush board. yeah who knows what can happen in the match later, you may go card dead and if you can get the profit that is great and increase your hourly rate

I try to have a tight image early on in the match so that I can sneak in one bluff play later on with a bigger pot when the blinds are higher. but the games have become more difficult on merge than the nice action games on pokerstars
I am meeting these sophisticated opponents who are just folding every time I valuebet because my betting frequency may not be high enough postflop or I am giving away some timing tell or they can see my cards
I think I need to increase the betting frequency against these opponents even early on in the match
it used to be that I could bluff more early on in the match and take the lead early but one guy called my shove with AQ high the other day

How can I say what I'd do with such information? That's a ridicolous question. It depends on so much.

If they're folding too much, you shouldn't be playing tight so that you can bluff once a match, you should be exploiting them until they drop dead.

As for the AQ, it's evident you're not thinking about this on a grand enough scale.

Oh what do you mean by exploit the folders? I meant I should bet more against the folders even early on....I'm not sure what you mean by AQ? I must be giving off a timing tell? I guess he calls out of curiosity because it's not a lot of money

there are actually ways to get bad people to play you again. you may think it is trivial, but with the state of games on carbon maybe you should be looking for these things

Sorry I missed your first reply:

If people are folding too much, that means you can bluff more.

I meant by the AQ that you're thinking rather primitively about this(no offenece) One sample is useless information.

Of course, thinking about any edge is important. I rrumsey is probably spot on though; shoving a lot, if anything, will increase the probability that they'll play you. It's not as if those playing HU SnG are looking for a nice, friendly game.

If they sit at a table, and then you sit, they have to play, right?

I think I don't have an edge anymore in the HUSNGs, it has gotten tougher on merge even at lower stakes. maybe mathematical study can help over large samples of games?
