5 players remaining, I am on the button with 7
7
I have been active in position, stealing blinds regularly, last orbit I min raised the BB from the button who called then folded to a C-bet and even made a comment that he would never fold to a min raise.
Blinds at 500/1000 300 ante. Folds to me on the button, single BB as the SB just busted.
My Stack: 27000
BB Stack: 27500
He seems like a good player overall although I've only been at his table since we made the final table.
I raise the button to 3500, he thinks a while then just calls
Flop:
A
7
6
I hit middle set, he checks, I fire 3500, he calls.
Turn comes K
He checks, I decide to just check behind. In retrospect I'm not sure how I feel about the check behind, I feel like he is on a draw possibly, or he is slow playing a big ace and is putting me on air, but against his made type hands I feel like checking the turn will induce a big raise when I fire small on the river.
River comes 5
He checks, I bet 4000 looking for him to raise me, and he does raising to 10k. I'm only losing to exactly 98, I don't put 34 in his range, and there's no way he slow played AA KK in my mind. What do I do? I feel like I should have just jammed the turn or at least bet 1/2 - 3/4 pot but I honestly didn't want a flush draw check shoving me. Please give your comments.

your open raise size is waaaay to big for an MTT, if you make it something like 2200 or just min open you get much cheaper steals and can open much wider as you need to be succesful less often.
flop is fine
turn is massive missing value, you want to set up for getting stacks in by the river, only 5 left it's hard to fold top pair for anyone and you don't want to give villain a free card, not only a spade, 5 or 9 might be dangerous cards for you but it will also kill action when villain has a Ax type of hand. bet somewhere around 4.5k so villain feels commited on the river.
on river call it off although I don't see many hands min raising you this small as most bluffs will just jam on you.
your arguement for not wanting a flushdraw to check shoving me makes no sense as you're way ahead vs a flushdraw and everything else he has. if you bet the river to hope to get raised you certainly should bet turn and home you get jammed upon.

this comment indicates he's not a good player, if he never folds to a min raise that means he's willing to play a lot of pots out of position with a weak range. If someone calls this much your adjustment should be to fold the absolute crap hands and then min open a wide range, Cbet the flop with 1/3 pot size bets and see how he responds. most likely is that he'll x/f a ton as he will barely connect with the board. Seems like a pretty profitable position to have such a player in the blinds.

You want to decrease your opening sizes as your stack gets smaller. If you're a tournament regular, you should have a idea of what size you open with every stack and every position. You want to look at what sizes you need to bet in order to get your stack in. At 27bb, you can min-raise pre, bet half pot on flop and turn and jam river, therefore you don't really need to go bigger than 2bb and if this guy is gonna call pre and fold a bunch to 1/3 cbets, it is so profitable to go that size.
