Yes it's standard. Not trying to get it in preflop at this stage of a tournament would be gross, nh. Welcome to DC btw!

Yes, with AKs I am not folding and the only question is whether to open push or raise preflop. As you had been aggro and others had previously re-raised you I prefer raising to try to induce here - a push is also reasonable imo especially if you have pushed often.

did you missread stacksizes or the table situation BaseMetal? Bc. openpushing AKs with 21 bb and no antes in EP would be a giant waste, even at the FT.

@ huskey, openraising is def. right, once you get 3bet it is certainly not the greatest spot, but you have to push wit your stack, even if it is close to the bubble (how many get paid at the 27 man?). I say it is close bc. it seems unlikely that the 3bettor would raise fold, and also unlikely that he would raise call AQ or worse (both given the fact that it is a 7$ buyin, and that his tiny sizing looks nutted, especially at that buyin), but you still have to shove, given that you have to put in about 3800 more to win 8800, so you only need 43% equity, when he NEVER folds that is. Against a range of TT+ AK you have 43,4%, so it is neutral chip ev in the worst case. Given that he will prob. still fold some of the time, or show up with AQ, getting it in is certainly the right play.

If it is actually the exact bubble that would change things, and probably would force you to fold for ICM reasons, so in that case I would actually like openshoving in the first place. But I assume only 6 or 7 get paid, right?

Well I do prefer open raising to induce but there are antes present and with 8M this is 12 'effective' bbs so I think pushing is not outrageous but perhaps a bit heavy handed. There is not much room to manouver as if flatted any size c-bet is going to commit us to the hand.

Thanks guys for the comments. BTW It is only the top 5 in a 27man that get paid .

Looks super standard to me. Shipping is not only a waste it also makes you very vulnerable. Like if I was on a table with you and had a read that you just ship AK I will shove really wide on you from LP knowing there is not much you can defend with.
Raise folding for 21bb seems absolutely hilarious to me
