Hi,

It's been a while since I have posted anything. This is a 15 dollar 45men turbo in Stars. 12 players left. The villain had played pretty passively before that hand. His stats were something like 44/14 VPIP/ PFR. He had limped a couple of hands before this one. Now hi min raises?

What do you think?

Thanks in advance
Regards

There are 12 players left, 7 paid so you don't have to worry much about ICM in this spot. It is difficult to assign a range from a player stats probably with only a few hands but the villain doesn't look like a reg and is likely to be moderately wide in a min raise. I would guess at a range at least as wide as (66+,A9s+,KTs+,QJs,ATo+,KJo+) and you are a bit of a favorite against this. The antes have kicked in so pushing starts to look good. Any raise is committing to you and the folds you get from the CO are welcome (players often call with the lower pairs but will fold some overcard hands like KJ), I like the push, I would push with 99, and prob with 88.

I like the jam here. An alternate line would be call and jam any flop that doesn't look terrifying. Depending on the opponent this might get more folds. However if he makes a Cbet you lose a lot of fold equity on the flop jam.

standard if he was 44/14 you're crushing his range.
that said I wouldn't go lower then that. 99+/AJs+ would be my limit.
the thing is his 44/14 tend to indicate he likes to limp to steal post-flop and have still a decent raising range.
also a call is thinkable but it's limit considering stacks but it could be profitable if he has a tendency to lead on dry flops.

Thank you all for the comments.

BaseMetal I would give the villain probably close to that range you are indicating but the thing was he had limped the last 3 or 4 hands he had played and we are getting close to the bubble. Passive players like this in my experinence tend to tighten up a bit when it gets to that point but he min raised - i don't know. I was sure at that moment that I overplayed it. Now I like mu push.

Thanks

With your read you probably can go a bit tighter on the range but players are not completely predictable, if those previous limps got him isolated/re-raised this passive player may be adjusting by switching to a min raise as standard. The 50 50 point for TT is about (88+,ATs+,KTs+,AQo+), if you do feel it is tighter than this then you can try either a fold or a call folding to A or K high flops. With this type of situation you do lose a lot of push equity fast if the opponent range narrows as you also no longer get many useful folds. A push against this 50 50 range is still going to be just about +ev due to the extra for blinds but if the player is tight you aren't likely to be giving up much if you do fold.
