I was hoping you would go over this preflop spot. Its clearly a profitable shove with A8s but r/c could be more profitable. Shoving does fold out some decent hands that would flat a minraise and you don't have to see a flop with a tough stacksize...but minraising can lead to some good things especially at a soft table
great format, Im a big fan.....more plz

i think this board is a must cbet given our min raise and his call. there are very few j's or 10's in his range imo. much more likely it is a 5 or air. and with a somewhat clean image a cbet and probably a second barrel is extremely profitable imo. plus even thou it may be very correct to call close to 100% turns against these guys with the action the way it is and A high, you then make things super hard on yourself on the river.

Most of the time, yeah. It is just because most opponents at the mid stakes level will rarely turn hands into bluffs in situations like this.
In this spot, his bet sizing meant he can have a wider value range which is bad for us. If he potted it or something he is much more nuts/air heavy and it would be a better situation for a hero call, though I'd still fold.

I agree with this and I breezed through it in the video.
Both are profitable, and raise/doing whatever obviously becomes optimal as you know more about your opponents.
Only one other thing I will mention is that minraising is also a little better when they actually have resteal stacks. You'll get yourself into trouble if you think two 40BB stacks are playing their ranges the same as if they had 18bb or something.

Calling 100% of turns was definitely an exaggeration. I was basically saying they like to fire once with their complete air, and since there is so much of it we can almost always argue a call.
I definitely don't think a cbet is mandatory and why say he doesn't have many jacks or tens? Players at these stakes will flat a ton of them, suited or not.
Another thing you can't forget is how all of this changes your image. If your thought process says a 2nd barrel will be profitable a very high % of the time on JTxss, chances are your game is a bit open. They may fold less than you expect ![]()
