How strong a hand do you need to call when the BB shoves? And how would you work that out?

What do you think of 3betting here with shallower stacks (like 30-40blinds)? I always worry about 3betting this hand because the opener's flatting range could have a lot of AJ, KQ, AQ, KJs and at that stackdepth its going to pretty difficult to find folds if we flop top pair. At the same time flatting doesn't seem great, so most of the time I end up feeling sad and folding.

on the opening of q4 off:
not a terrible open, but since ivanaS85 has already open limped twice in 4 hands, could we not pass this spot knowing we really want to be maximizing the chances of being in pots with the donk and not risking s spot where someone is deep enough to defend a lot?

oh and i totally agree about buttons range being forced to be super tight.

I am being completely serious when I say that I just ran really hot in that one. I played pretty straightforward and the situations just sort of worked out for me.

so on the jacks hand. psotflop when we call, would you be giving up to barrels a lot. my thinking is that he has been so passive that if he cbets, lets say 10 blank blank flop that we honestly could get away from it. he has just not raised at all, so the likelihood of him cbetting anything but strong value hands is low imo

i kinda like this shove. as you pointed out when people double from being short they tend to wanna play back more. and i think he is really getting sick of us abusing the hell out of the table, i easily see him 3 betting pretty light there. and also, if he is an icm aware decent player, he most likely is not going to be calling that often either imo. i think it was the prefect conditions to make this play imo.

What do you think villain's river check means here ? I'm not sure that the river is a bad card for us after his checks turn+river

I like it too.
It is difficult to sense the game flow at the table with hand selection in the replayer but we have already raised/folded 3 times in the last orbits against his 3bets.
I'm not sure that it is really +EV but I'm definitely not surprised to see him fold.

It depends a lot on your image. If Steve's image was crazy enough here, calling with something like A4s or KJs would be completely reasonable.

I'd call a lot tighter before antes (they help your pot odds and people generally don't get out of line before antes), a little lighter in the middle stages, and probably tighten up again near the late stages (this is a general rule which is almost always bent).

When the opener is on the button I wouldn't worry about it so much. Hopefully we're 3-betting this hand because he'll fold a lot, not because he'll call and we'll be dominated.

I don't think you need to feel sad when folding! I'd fold here too against a reasonable player.

Eh, I might agree more if everyone had shorter stacks, but if the other players are allowing us to steal, we should never fold.

I don't think 4everunknown is forced to play tight. If the other players are passive, he can just call a lot on the button and there is nothing we can really do.

I'd probably have folded Q4o. They'd have to be really tight/passive for me to raise the CO with a really bad offsuit hand.

Looking back at the video, I'm surprised how tight we thought he was. I don't have any experience with him, but dayum someone has to be weak for me to not 3-bet JJ.

No way such a tight player could get 4-handed in a 6max tournament.
