NL Holdem $400(BB) Replayer
SB ($1,010)
Hero ($970)
UTG ($2,710)
CO ($3,357)
BTN ($1,952)

Dealt to Hero 5Club 5Diamond

UTG calls $400, fold, fold, [color=red]SB raises to $1,010 (AI), Hero ?

Why does wiz suggest to push hands as weak as 42o in this spot? I think UTG l/c around 25% and the SB probably ships around 20% so where does our equity come from if we're dominated every single time?

Can't do ICM since you didnt give out the payout structure and what kind of tournament is this with 5 players and 9999 chips in play? Maybe someone tipped the dealer.

Anyways you have over 40% of your stack already invested and for the sake of argument lets say top2 get paid so folding would be really bad since you're already really short stacked.

if you fold you'll have 570 left and need to post 200 as a SB. If you don't shove your BB you'll be left with such a short stack that even if you double up in the SB you'll still be the small stack and still you'll not have any fold equity on any shove.

It's better to gamle with any2 in this spot imo to see if you can double up or tripple up so you get some fold equity on any future shoves..

folding would simply cripple your stack imo.

also you're not yet on the bubble and 24 gives you 35% vs 2 other live cards and if sb shoves 50% you still have 34% equity.....

If the UTG overcalls your shove you still got ~20% equity with 24 and if you win such a flip you'll have 3K and be the chipleader on the bubble

given the fact you have 55 this is an easy call.

It's an iPoker progessive jackpot SnG (10 players, 1000 chips, 10/20 1st level), no idea why it's only 9999 chips tho.

@hans: I understand what you're saying and it makes complete sense but ICM or wiz respectively doesn't consider the metagame of shoving the SB later, right?

Anytime there's a chance you'll be heads up with someone in a big pot I'm in like Flynn in hands like this with any two cards, the chance that you bust exists of course, but so does the chance of taking down a nice pot. There are other situations as well you should watch for, especially when you have dwindling Fold Equity. It's better to just get a stack in vs. even a raiser because you at least have some equity.

Plus, you'll get the chance to be berated when you win the pot. Win-win.
