I stake players, alot of them. Not being able to see the results of a tournament (sng) makes it possible for a stakee to be dishonest and incorrectly report amounts won therefore robbing thier staker.
Notice how much longer it is taking to get into sng's today? backers are stopping their stakees from playing. ahem.
the following is how I have responded.
We need to respond collectively.
Both stakers and stakees. Be polite, concise and direct. Dont try to hide anything.
This is the PM I am sending out to all my SNG stakees:
hey xxx,
I need to ask you to suspend play. Dont close the stake, just dont play against it for a bit. Allow me to explain.
For sngs, people not registered into the event cannot see standings in lobby anymore.
No longer can placings/awards be confirmed.
What I'd like you to do is send Pstars an email stating how grievous a manuever this is for you. Feel free to tell them your backer has suspended play until further notice and why. Tha since I cannot track your results how would I know if you got 1st ot 101st.
Thanks for understanding. I am doing this with all my sng stakes as are many others.
regards.

As a staker and a stakee we need to email stars as well. I'll try to put a good one together shortly and add it here.

My email to poker stars:
To whom it may concern,
I am a avid backer of sng players. I back players in $4.40 to $22 180 man sng's 10-100 buy ins at a time. The only way to know that I am backing a profitable player is thru tracking reports by companies such as sharkscope as you are well aware.
Also the only way for me to confirm the monies won or lost is to be able to see the results via tourn id #'s and tourn lobbies. An inability to see the results leaves trust at issue between stakers & stakees.
If pokerstars wishes to continue with this policy I will have no choice but to take my sng staking business to online poker rooms that allow such tracking. I may only be one staker, but I have 3-12 stakees running at a time. There are literally thousands of stakers out there doing this. Many representing alot more players than me.
Pokerstars has always been my favorite online poker site. Both as a player and now a staker in players. Your customer service has always been the deciding factor to play here. As a player I can find games at any site I choose to deposit money on. I choose Pokerstars.
Pleae dont make me change my mind.
Regards

they plan to expand this to all tournaments
bigfish: I imagine stars will respond that profitability data is still available at sites that adhere to their policy (that profitability data shown publically should be an opt-in process, rather than opt-out). Therefore your backees can opt-in to a site like PokerProLabs and thus this won't effect the staker/stakee relationship.
edit: after some searching i've found
how you can opt-in on pokerprolabs.
fwiw i dont know what their coverage is, but it's got nearly all my stars games - 99.5% in the last month

I can sympathize with OP's situation, but from the average sng player's perspective this is a good thing. There's nothing more obnoxious than some toolbox berating some fish in chat for his poor ss stats. Honestly the guys most likely to do this are marginal winners with no real sense of how poker works. It also happens that these are the guys most likely to be staked.
SS is a pretty cool dick waving tool and I'll admit that I have spent a bit of time on it checking up on my stats in various games and being on happy tilt when I'm running well, but it generally does more harm than good in the actual games.

I understand what your saying Bones. And I like the idea of near instant chat bans for those that berate others.
People would be surprised how many players are staked however too. It's a far bigger # than many would believe. And most stakees aint that good. Then there are a bunch that are very good and they understand MTT variance so they chose minimal if any BR risk for lower net. I believe it's going to send some away from stars just because stakers wont stake 90-180mans since they cant verify winnings/losses. I know this, I am not bringing on any new ones and will try to take those I got over to FTP for sng action.

Get Tourney Manager and require your horses to submit daily tournament summaries by forwarding the eMail directly to you that came from Pokerstars.
Import the summary into Tourney Manager to get the same data you are getting in sharkscope and OPR but only for your horses.
And when running dataview reports on Tourney Manager just change the hero name.
You just have to trust your horses if they have a good reputation/high player points in PTP.

I thought 'official poker rankings' tracked mtt-sng results in addition to bigger field tournaments? Can't you just check their records there to confirm? Also tourney manager idea seems like a reasonable alternative if it's still an issue.
If y'all can come up with something damn good, I'll take it straight to the guy whose responsible for the creation of the policy, but the sharkscope announcements were a while ago and he seemed reluctant at any attempt to overturn the policy initially.

OPR is having problems also. All MTT-SNG > 45 players are being block by PS.
Pokerstars also announced that they might block larger tournaments too.
@bigifsh
Tourney Manager FYI is also develop by the same developer of HEM. I have NOT been using HEM 1.08 beta, waiting for the official release, but 1.08 has tourney support, NOT sure if you can do what I suggested above.

This really bugs me too. I think that quoting SS stats in chat is now against the rules at Stars so if you see someone doing it you can report them and they'll get a warning/suspension/ban.
OP - can't you have you horses email you the Stars tourney results email? Or send you a screenshot of the lobby after the tourney? Or use pokerprolabs like Hood suggested.
Personally I don't mind if they prevent SS from mining tourney results - I think it's better for the fish pool over the long term.

The one really annoying thing it does do is take a way an efficient public database for tracking purposes beyond the actual poker game. Last year, with so many sites, names, what have you, OPR helped me organize my tax information. This year I might not be able to utilize such resources, which makes things a bit more tedious to handle.
