Really looking into a new computer to play poker. I was thinking about a laptop, that I could also use for school. Im not a huge multitabler. If it can fit 6-8 tables nicely im happy and as long as its good quality, fast, and all those good things.

I bought a dell studio eps 435 MT refurb on e-bay for less than $700, over 6 months ago. i7 precessor, dual monitor support and I haven't had any problems, runs like a top.

Macs are no doubt a superior computer, but do not run HEM or a HUD. From what I understand, HEM and PT3 are not going to be made for Mac in the immediate future either. Unfortunately, I have a Mac and have to buy a new computer as well because of this.

Ever thought of using VMWare/Bootcamp and use both OSX and Windows7?

Poker Tracker 3 now has a mac native version that has a HUD and the HUD also works with rush poker! Far superior to HEM in those 2 areas, as HEM doesn't run natively on a mac and has some silly stats injected in notes for rush tables solution.

I don't know a lot about VMWare/Bootcamp, but from what I've read in forums, it makes your mac susceptible to all of the negative things associated with running windows (i.e. viruses). I do not want to risk damaging my computer. Also, will OSX be replaced by Windows as the primary operating system?

Onraad, maybe you can speak more inteligently about this, as it seems you have some experience with running windows on Mac.

Thanks.

Poker Tracker has releases a version for Mac. Works great. Plus if you have to use Poker Manager you can use Parallels Software and run both Mac and Microsoft at the same time. I use it ..works fantastic.

If I run Parallels on my Mac, do I then just install the poker room (Full Tilt) and HEM or PT3 under Windows while parallel is running?

Thanks for your help. This could save me $1K if I don't have to buy a PC.

Best computer for the money. The new Sony Vaio E series. It just came out like two weeks ago. It comes with 4ram and intel i3. The screen is very bright and is 15.5 inches. This is big enough for 8 tables. I just ordered the same laptop today with the intention of playing poker on it. I have upgraded mine to i5 with turboboost and a 512 video card. It was under 1k. The style if out of this world. Windows 7 is great to play poker on.
