After having used pc's forever, Im changing over to mac's.
I want it to be able to run 6 tables with a HUD smoothly and at the same time play music from itunes or spotify, will this be any trouble with the new macbook airs as long as I dont buy the cheapest one with 2GB ram?
Im basicly on three options here:
Buy a mac-mini with i7 and 8gig ram for home use and a mb air 13" for fun on the go (I need a laptop for work and studies)
Buy a "standard" mac-mini with i5 and 4gb ram + same mb air.
Buy a mb pro 15" with high-res screen ++updgrades and use it both as home computer and for work/studies.
Im not doing any hardcore video or fotoediting, and just needs a machine that can run what i mentioned of pokersoftware smooth, and also watch movies with good quality. If the cheap mac mini and the mbp air can do the tasks that would be awesome, and my preferred option. Anyone have experience with these and can share some insight?

MBP. Get a 24" external monitor and run it with the lid down at home (basically just think of it as a computer tower).
100%, although keeping the lid up gives you an additional monitor which never hurts.
OP, what is your motivation to change to Mac? Sounds like you'd be much better off just buying a normal tower and laptop tbh, and this is coming from a Mac user.

I realize this doesnt help much, but I just got my first Mac. It is the MacBook Air with 4gb ram and 13" screen and it really is awesome. Unfortunately I cant play poker to test it. Screen size would likely necessitate an external monitor though.

Mrrpb: Motivation stems from having used mac on occation (my brothers) and beeing much more satisfied with i. Basicly I want it more, Im fed up with my computers running slow after 1 month, and I feel I dont get the same problems with macs.
I bought a 13" (the i7 one) with 8gig ram and its awesome, Superexcited about it.
Gonna use it with a external monitor at home.

My parents have the standard 27'' iMac (the previous version, not the current one) and I've been 6-14 tabling a lot on it (+PT3). Whichever Mac you buy, you should have no problem playing 6 tables + HUD and play some music while doing so.

I'm currently thinking about either buying an iMac 27'' too or just a Cinema Display 27'' for my MacBook Pro. I'm curious if there is anything annoying when using an external monitor? I use 4 virtual desktops, each with their own purpose. Once I connect my MacBook to an external display, do I then have the same desktops, or new ones? How about window resizing (obv a 27'' monitor has a higher resolution than a MacBook display).
Also..when you close the lid, doesn't the MacBook go to sleep?
