For the Mac guys wanting to run Windows (for poker of course) the Parallels Desktop software is by far the best one out there at the moment (imo). A site I visit frequently because I am a Mac support guy has a promotion once in a while where they sell a bunch of software for $50. In the current promotion Parallels is included so I wanted to give you guys a heads up:

This is very interesting. Can u help? I am recent to the mac and using bootcamp to run Holdem . I hate switching back n forth. Over a year ag I bought Parallels 4.0 , 70 bucks, never opened it. Don't want to waste the money. What is my best option? Buy the spring bundle you refer here to, and try to place 4.0 on e-bay and cut loss. Just install my 4.0 and hope for a good price on the upgrade to 6.0. and forget about the bundle offer.

Also, I've heard some techs say that Fusion is much better, but I've done some research and , yes, Parallels seems to be the best option overall. I don't know why some techs like Fusion more.

Also, do you use the other bundled applications in the offer, r they any good. It really hurts to have spent 70 bucks on totally unused software. Maybe this offer is so good, that I should just cut my loss, do you have any experience with e-bay, do you think I can cut my loss there.

What is your overall recommendation? Thanks.

Confused

Stick with Bootcamp, i tried parallels too. It just make the Mac run so much slower, since it divides the internal memory between the 2 operating systems, then when you run Bootcamp natively on your mac. It is not that i had less memory orso (i used 4gb on my macbook 13,3)

Yeah sometimes it sucks because you cant switch quickly in Bootcamp between Operating Systems. But still i think it is the best solution.

Yeah, so confusing. I have been told that if you r gonna install either parallels or fusions , that u should increase your ram , I've also been told that if u constantly use bootcamp only, u will expose yourself to more virus atacks, geez what to do, man

Bootcamp is best when you don't ever need your Mac operating system, which in practice isn't going to happen (why would you buy a Mac then in the first place). It is true that it makes your Mac slower, you'll need a healthy Mac with enough RAM to run it smoothly. But it really is the way to go when you are using your Mac apps as well on a regular basis.

As far as Fusion goes, I've always used VMWare for PCs and am a big fan of virtualisation on a whole. When I came to the Mac, Fusion was the first piece of software I've used for months. But then I benchmarked both and there was a big benchmark by Mactech about 2 years ago, I switched to Parallels and never looked back:

I don't know about selling software on ebay and/or what the best way to go is for you, gman99. I don't know about your personal finances. I can tell you that I am excited about the bundle as it is offered now, it has been the first actually that I bought in years just because of Parrallels. From the other software I use 1Password daily which is gold to store and enter passwords without any hassle. Techtool is very handy for the bussiness I am in and for the rest of the software I don't have any personal experiences yet.

Well i partly agree on your first phrase. You see in my situation i use Windows just for Poker, the OSX is only for workstuff like Office and that type of things. So in my case i am happy with the Bootcamp cause i dont need to switch between OS all the time, plus it is free which is a big plus.
