So cake is not supposed to allow HUDs from what I understand but HEM 2 is working fine. Anyone else on cake able to run HEM 2?

Cake changed their anti-software policy.
At first by allowing session-only stats.
Then they stopped censoring their handhistories and removed the session-only stats restriction.

So HM1 and HM2 now fully support Cake.
Although we still have to implement seating preferences for Cake in HoldemManager. That will be added in the next update.
