Hey,
I did a short video analyzing my data in HM2 about bet sizing in BTN and CO. I use to PFR 3bb on CO and 2.5bb on BTN but recently have change to 2.5bb on CO and 2bb on BTN. I thought it would be interesting to see how people react to the different bet size.
BTN/CO bet sizing
Let me know what you think or maybe share what you have figure out yourself from experimenting with different pre-flop bet sizing.

hello
it's very interesting but samples are certainly too small to have a not biased analyse (i m not a math expert so i do not know how many hands we need, but surely one month of grind something like 20k)

I find I get 3bet more often when I open smaller on the BTN. This could just be in my head as I've not analysed my data. I certainly 3bet smaller BTN opens more often because people opening smaller are generally doing it to protect their wider opening range.

like problem is you need to adjust your default sizing to the players in the blinds
Base on? I dont think you are talking about betting bigger when there are calling stations in the blinds right?

Are you talking about total hand sample. That analysis have a 180K total hand sample.

Go check your data
Not necessary, I see betting min vs betting 2.5x on the button as a pure maths advantage, risking less to win the same amount.
I think there are more people that change their bet sizing because the training sites are showing it rather than because they want to raise a wider range on the button.

The risking less argument only works if people don't increase their 3betting% vs you. I 3bet btn minopeners to about 10-12bb too, so they don't get a super cheap ip flop. If they're stealing 100% from the btn then I'm 3betting them a ton.
I might start minbetting and see how the data works out.

wow sorry i did stop when i saw btn open 2 bb was 2k hands ,
these 2 k hands didn't seem enough but if you have 180k hands i do not know how you can do since 180k hands is a long of grind time

My standard and the standard of most regulars that I play with is to make it 8bb, basically 4x my open.

If you have a few really nitty mass multi-tablers in your blinds that just play their hands kind of robotically, you can definitely just min-bet or 2.5x the BTN and they'll usually never adjust. But if you have a guy who likes to 3bet a lot there, you should probably make other adjustments to your btn strategy like stop opening so many junk hands you'll have to fold to a 3bet.
Or just leave and find a table you can min-bet nits without identifier off your left.

I think minbetting is a really stake dependent type thing. At the micros the rake effects almost certainly have a huge detrimental impact on this strategy.
Really? How so? If the pot is smaller dont you lose less $ in rake? Am I missing something? haha
