How do you handle aggressive MIN3BETTING short or midstacks ?
I played a lot of short and midstacks at 2-4 Nl in the last days realizing that most of them are pretty aggressive.
I got min3bet a lot which wouldn't be a problem with 100 BB stacks given that you have position and great odds, but often their very small stacks are cutting the implieds to much.
Do you limp more if you know your opponent is min3betting a lot( any difference from 20-50BB?)
Do you call any ace ?
What range are you calling min3bets with against a 40BB stack?
Or do you never call, always shove or fold?
Do you move postflop on lowcard flops given that min3bets are very often broadway or Ax ?
How do you handle 40BB stacks with > 25% 3bet, who raise 3x?
Shortstacks who 3bet a lot can be a real headache.
If they're 3betting pot (3x) then I think you have to shove or fold. But they call pretty light so you can't really shove bluff. That's why they're a headache.
Min3bettors aren't so bad. I would treat a min3bet with 50bb effective stacks more or less like a standard 3bet with 100bb stacks.
Thinking in terms of Stack to Pot ratio, a min3bet with 50bb effective gives a flop pot of 10bb and stacks of 45bb. A standard 3bet with 100bb efective gives a flop pot of 20bb and 90bb stacks. SPR is identical.
I usually quit these guys because I can't handle them. Their 3betting range varies so much, and when you start playing back a little the best will start varying their 3bet sizes and it becomes very very hard to play against.
Well personally I don't play anyone below 50bb, because it usually becomes a crapshoot and I enjoy playing postflop poker. I especially quit them if they are quite aggro and I don't feel like having a headache over 55 big blinds.. There's easier fish out there.
In general against shorties, I'd call their min3bets more than anything and lock my money in the pot when I know I am ahead a vast majority of the time. If you don't, and lose, they usually just quit you.

Me neither! When I get someone down to 50bbs and they don't reload, I quit. Nothing tilts me more than dubbling up a short stack, so It's best for me to avoid it. That said, I feel like I'm gonna have to over come this when I get up to 2/4+ cuz there has to be some good money playing these guys. At 1/2, it's just not worth it.
I think you will all miss a lot of value if you dont play players like that at 2-4 or higher.
I doubt there's some kind of aggressive midstack strategie, but they are still bad donkeys who want to gamble.
Let's see what Krantz says.
Krantz ? :-(
like the other players, I just ask the super ss players to reload or leave. My threshold is about 40-50bb. Like Stake monster said, once they get below that range, you basically are playing blackjack instead of poker. However, the two exceptions I give are 1) if the player is REALLY bad, and not a hit-n-runner I will play sub 40bb, or 2) if I just stacked the guy, I will give him a couple of hands then sit out and request he reloads....
