Very 1st hand of the match.
Should I bet the turn to protect if he has AQ,AJ? Not too worried if he has Ax because he has only 3 outs.
Against KK+,AK I have 36% so if I bet I have to call a shove obviously.

I didnt' like to raise on the flop. Not too sure now. I am ahead of his range here a lot (also since it is the 1st hand I expect him to CBet almost always).
If he folds he is folding worse and if we get raise we are not super happy (i.e we split).

That was my thinking on the turn too i.e I am ahead most of the time (bc he would prob bet with Kx) but I can't see many worse hands that will call. The only question is if I have to protect or not vs AJ,AQ (eventhough thats only 6 outs).

I think I should bet something like 17-18 on the turn.

Looks good. You can raise flop too, but I prefer calling without any dynamic. Turn check is likely the best play. Nothing better folds, nothing worse calls (for the most part) and AQ/AJ have less outs/equity because we have a FD as well.

That being said, if you sat a reg on a HU table, raising might be best first hand because maybe he's trying to win the first hand and sit out (like these guys seem to like to do).

The fact that it is the first hand might make the raise flop better for dynamic purposes yeah but as you said flop call is fine too imo.

oh and btw do you agree that callign 3B pre is std?

He sat me btw.

Yeah, if he sat you then I would just call flop. If the board was something like J92cc, then raising might be better since there are more combos of overcards he can have (to jam) and less draws you can have.

Calling pre seems standard. He bought in full and alot of people seem to play aggressive early to set up an image.
