Relative to your best 2008 game - how does this compare?

Do you recall having any tilt or frustration throughout the match?

Hey Ansky

On the Q9 hearts hand at 9:20 what do you think about donking that river?
I know your going to miss out on a lot of bluffs by Tom but dont you think your going to get called by two pair hands and of course a straight a good portion of the time maybe even AJ if he thinks ur capable of bluffing? If not this hand are there different board textures that you would be more apt to donking the river after making the "nuts"?

Never really tilted. Was such a big game for me that if at any point Tom was crushing me or I felt outmatched, I'd just quit.

What do you mean by the first part of your question?

I really dislike donking there, more or less guarantees you will never win the max vs a straight. Then again, now that I think about it, he might think I just have a ten and bluf raise... hmm...

Nah I still prefer checking and hoping he bets, definitely a good chance he just folds 2 pair if I donk river.

My first question was......

Do you think you played your best game vs him? By your 2008 standards.

I mean - I guess we all walk away from some sessions thinking ( no matter how good or bad you run) and think man I coulda have played so much better than that.

Also - do you think your game matched up well vs Tom? I keep hearing HSHUNL players mention I think my game suits playing vs XYZ but not DEF.

And what do you think they mean when they say "matches up well"?

I don't think I played my best, but by that I mean I basically didn't play perfect. I have sessions where I play 1000 hands where I don't think I made a single mistake, so I use that as a standard for "my best."

People talking about how they "match up" is a mix of bullshit and honesty. Fundamentally if you are really really good, you should adjust to any style and shouldn't worry about how you "match up." But in reality, almost everyone has tendencies, and certain tendencies will end up matching well versus some. The better you are though, the more you will adjust, and the more people you can "match up" against.

Slightly different from that though, I think there are certain people who have always just had my number when we have played, and vise versa. I don't know if this started out as luck and then I ended up losing confidence versus a player and didn't always make the best play versus them, or if they really were able to get into my head. Confidence obviously plays a big role when playing versus strong players, when you need to make decisions with extremely small margins for error.

why would a 7,5,or 3 be a better card to bet the river on than an 8?
