Can someone provide a full fold equity calculation here? I get a different number:

36.6 equity means we lose $26.8 when we are called (100 * 0.366 - 100 * (1-0.366))

x = how often he folds
$38*x - 26.8*(1-x) = 0 (to find how often he needs to fold for us to be break even)
solving gives us
x = 0.41

so we're breaking even if villain folds 41% of the time. Did i get this wrong?

Can someone provide a full fold equity calculation here?

EV = (calling frequency)*(avg. amount won when he calls) + (folding frequency)*(amount won when he folds)

Calling frequency is just 1-(folding frequency). The avg won when he calls is (equity)*(size of pot) - (bet size), and when he folds we win the dead money in the pot. So,

EV = (1 - FE)*(E*200 - 89) + FE*38

Setting EV=0 and solving for FE gives us (89-E*200)/(127-E*200), or about 29 percent.

Oh, and this is my favorite series so far and I don't even play HU. Good work guys!

Great video series, especially the theory videos. I think the theory videos are the more efficient way to learn poker. Thanks for all the hard work, it definitely shows.

Hey Dog,

Can you give some examples of when bet-folding would be the optimum play instead of checking for pot control.

Great series btw, I got a lot out of your duel vids, so I knew you wouldn't disappoint.

Awesome, and I don't bandy out praise that easily. It's quite amazing how rational and easy you guys make it look.
Really enjoyed the bluff calculation and has left me looking at bluffing in a different way.
Also the combination of pairs mentioned by gman was an eye opener. Roll on next week, I'm really looking forward to learning about manipulating my bet sizing. Something I have been trying out as of late.

I am getting the fold equity of the 44 hand to be 20.8%.
I calculated as follows, please help me where I went wrong.
ALL in EV = (38+89)(0.366) - (89)(0.634) = $-10. so on average we lose 10 dollars when we make this play and he calls every time, with the range given.

To calculate fold equity, let fold equity = x,when he folds we win $38 and when he calls we lose on average $10. Equate to 0 to find the break even point.
x(38) - (1-x)(10) = 0
From the above calculation i get the fold equity equal to 0.208 or 20.8%.

Please let me know where I made my mistake.

Wow I guess I am the only one that is kind of EH about this one. I love the series so far, and I come from a math background. But I think this would have been alot better if you had actual hand examples and how they played out, especially on the bluff calculations. I so see the value in much of this, I just don't see many players calculating this on the fly, if any. The math is great, but I think it gets lost as a math class and not so much on really applying it to actual play.

Just a quick note, you can make a HUD just for HU play, if you go into HEM there are filter options for amt of players and which HUD to use. So you can use a separate HUD for HU, 6m and even FR.
