I deal with it really bad, it's like a psychological thing because i can take a hit or two, you have to with HU. But whenever, especially a shorstacker who you finally magically convinced to buyin full pulls a hit a run on me i just go on super-monkey-donkey tilt right after it.

So i ask you HU guys, how you deal with it?

i take notes on players that hit and run and usually don't play them again...i typically will give 10 minute notice for most everyone i play just cause i like it that way as well and your rep means something if your player base isn't that big and want future action...but i have taken some shots higher and majority of the time i don't give notice and actually feel like shit for a minute then just enjoy the successful shot which i then think about when im playing my normal game and say how can i get pissed when i have done it...to me in heads up poker you really need to be in the right frame of mind and mood to play heads up versus 6 max i think you can be agitated and not have it effect your game as much..heads up magnifies everything...hit and running is bad, but hit and sit is the worst!

I just make a note on the player and never play him again.

Short stackers are a different case, I kind of like playing them. I've spent the past week only playing short stackers to get over "hit 'n run tilt". Once you figure out how most of 'em play, it's not bad at all. Sure, they'll get lucky a few times, but once you figure out how they play, it's not so bad.

This week I ran 42bb/100 against short stackers (who are the most prominent hit 'n runners)...only a relatively small sample size because I've only been at it for a week, but enough to convince me it's profitable playing them. They move all-in way way way too often with marginal hands. Wait for a set or otherwise deceptive hand, show a little weakness in a larger pot, and they'll run without hitting Smile

play a little tighter than you might otherwise postflop against guys who are likely to hit and run you (short stacks, guys that dont autopost blinds, etc) then once you do bust them, if they reload short demand that they reload 2x whatever they bought in for. If they don't, don't play them (unless they are super super bad).

If they do buy in deeper, it gets them out of their comfort zone and increases your edge against them. Plus they are more likely to tilt if you bust them again etc. The mentality of a hit and runner is to win quick and leave before he loses it back, so use their fear or quitting a loser against them and force them to buy in bigger before you continue to play. You can really get some guys to tilt this way and play even worse than normal.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Every step i make towards less tilting in these situations is +EV so i definitely keep working on it.
