Avoid open-limping in PLO8 as well?
If you want to be/remain a winning player i suggest that this is a mantra that you keep to. I mean sure there are exceptions like very good high only hands in O8 and stuff like Danza mentioned, but for the vast majority atleast i would rarely ever limp first in, i`d rather fold.

For those of us that have spent many an hour grinding limit holdem, this mantra comes very naturally. On reading the o8 'literature' I moved instead to open limping from early position quite a lot, but have since returned to a strategy closer to the limit holdem way of doing things.
Its worth keeping an open mind, though - these are two different games.

For me, i think the most significant adjustment i made from my lhe standard, was coldcalling raises alot more. I never coldcalled first in playing limit, but with the split pot concept you can do this much more liberally and its also preferable to 3betting alot of the time i feel. With high only hands, or good low hands with not much high potential becomes good candidates, imo. A239 with a small or no suit, QQJKss or something like this comes to mind of the top of my head.

As I basically never open-limp either in hold'em or the various draw games, it's nice to find out that it's OK (and even good) to do the same in 6-max O8 because I find it more natural to play that way. So far in O8 though I've been open-limping most hands in early pos but always raising on the CO or button - it's just easier to play bigger pots in position. It's also easier to C-bet in position.
I agree with not 3-betting too much. In this game a very good pre-flop hand can turn to custard very quickly on the flop.

I also cold call quite a bit. I don't know, perhaps I do it too much. If btn raises and I have a good hand in SB I will cold call. I figure hands rank closely together preflop versus each other so I don't necessarily want to get head's up out of position. I figure I can get more advantage by playing it multiway. I guess this does not take account of fold equity.

I used to coldcall a lot, but started to 3bet more lately, especially in position. I just feel much better even with one way hands when there is an opportunity to just take down the pot with a cbet. Also i feel much better with non-nut hands against one opponent.
