Ulyss I know where you are coming from. Its difficult for those of us used to playing holdem to work out the value of o8 hands. This might help a bit:

That's awesome thank you. I have the registered version of Slice EV ++ which does equity calculation for most games including Omaha Hi/Lo. I have been using it as much as I could to try and get a good idea. But I have really only begun. Should I be mostly doing calculation for preflop against various other ranges or after the flop. Both, obviously I guess. The link is great. Once again I appreciate all the input. I am a little shocked at how much I enjoy playing this game in particular after years of Hold Em. It is also kind of exciting to realize not that there is not that much info out there yet. Prob not that many games either though. lol.
Am I right that 3-high 1-low hands with no ace are a disaster? I mean stuff like KKJ2 or QQT4. I guess those two are OK as a blind steal because of the big pair.
My understanding is that this is a pure 3 card hand. The fourth card is completely useless, of course, so to play you would need to get enough out of the other 3 cards to make it worthwhile.
Ulyss - thanks for the tip about Slice, I downloaded it. Do you know if there is a way to select a purely random hand for one of the villains, like you can in PokerStove?
Slice is a wicked program. I bought it years ago but only truly started to appreciate it when I started to play some of the other games. I am not sure of the difference between the features in the registered version and the unregistered. You can load mulitple ranges from the menu. So if you select player 2 for example you could see how you are doing against the middle rundowns, or big pairs etc., or both. Not sure about straight randoms though. I tried loading all ranges and I was able to get a result that way.

Yes. Even on a steal you're probably going to want a suit in a lower stakes game. They're just junk even 3-ways in postion.
