1/2 Pot Limit Omaha hi/lo game

UTG+1 I pick up ADiamondAClub8Spade5Spade One limper UTG and I make it 10, 3 callers in the field and the UTG limper calls. I have about 900, UTG has me covered and the 3 field players are between 500 and 900.

Flop (50) AHeartTHeart8Club

UTG checks, I bet 50, 2 field players call, UTG calls.

Turn (250) 3Heart

UTG says “pot”, so its 250 to me with 2 players left to act in the field. Hero?
As far as reads on UTG, he wasn’t super splashy but definitely not solid. I hadn’t seen him make a bet like this so far so I’m not sure if he has to have both the low and the flush or if he could have just one or the other. Thoughts appreciated.

You have to worry about the guys behind you having a flush or a low too, which is fairly likely. You're pretty much drawing dead to low most of the time and drawing to a few outs for the high half, seems like a fold especially not closing the action.

Clear fold for everything Schweig said. Better luck next time with top set.

Thanks for responses Schwieg and AKQJ10.

I ended up folding, as did the field so there aren't any interesting results to post.

As played definitely a fold but in general I wouldn't recommend c-betting this flop with these aces into 4 people, especially this deep. Aside from a paired board really every turn sucks, which is going to lead to a ton of c/folds. OOP I'd rather keep it small. If the board does pair you can still pick up value and if it doesn't you can see every street without playing OOP on the juiciest board imaginable, multiway with only top set.

Interesting.... i know that the temporary nuts for half the pot doesn't mean a lot in O8 with two low cards out there*, but i would have still thought you'd want to bet/call the flop with top set to start getting value from the LDs or FDs the times the board bricks out or pairs. Seems to me the problem with check/calling is that those draws won't pay you off as much when they miss the turn. However, i trust yeahthatsme's judgment as an expert in this game, which i am not.

Pot control OOP and forgoing a small flop edge to exploit a huge turn edge are both very valid considerations.

*What you obviously don't want to do is put in lots of chips getting freerolled on something like AHeartTHeart8Club3Spade, but ITT we probably all realize this.

That's also true and interesting. This flop is much much worse for us than AHeart9Heart2Club, isn't it?, because on the latter board any non-heart B'way card would be good for us.

Change a few things and I think about it differently. HU, 3 way, 3rd or 4th LD instead of 85, shallower, position..it changes things, but this flop this deep 5 way pretty much every hand is going to peel the flop and they're all mostly not the kind of hands you want peeling like AXXX hands. Due to this I don't really consider it getting value in a 5 way pot. So easy to make a mistake for a ton of chips in a less than marginal spot.
