Pre Flop: (1.5 SB) Hero is UTG with 4 Diamond A Diamond 2 Diamond Q Diamond
Hero calls, MP calls, 2 folds, SB calls, BB checks

Flop: (4 SB) 6 Heart 5 Spade 4 Club (4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets, MP calls, SB folds, BB calls

Turn: (3.5 BB) 2 Spade (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, MP raises, BB calls, Hero calls

River: (9.5 BB) Q Heart (3 players)
BB checks, Hero checks, MP bets, BB folds, Hero calls

Final Pot: 11.5 BB

Big Blind 58/20/45 over 396 hands VPIP/PFR/AFQ%
HJ 40/19/38 over 223 hands

Preflop - I'm not sure what to think about this hand. I have A24, and AQ suited. Unfortunately, there is less chance to hit a flush as I have four of the diamonds myself.

Turn - I get confused when I get good low cards counterfeit. I still have a decent low and two pair, plus outs to improve. I don't want to give free cards to for example a random overcard flush card. Is the bet too much?

Comments on any street welcome.

Yes I think I got a bit annoyed with the turn card and bet anyway through gritted teeth. Are you recommending check-call on the turn, then?

Im no expert at this game but i think preflop is totally fine. You have A24 which covers you well for lows, and you have a little high potential. This might possibly be a fold in tougher games i guess, but i think its fine. I also agree with the advice given here, the turn-bet looks like a mistake and when raised you should assume that your outs to the high are limited and that your low probably isnt good, or possibly be chopping.

This hand is strictly better than AQ24r which is an open UTG. I'd def open this UTG.

RE: turn. If you don't know what to do I'd check. Basically you're scared to give free cards but don't have a plan in the event villain raise. We DO beat 23 for the low (live A) but here against unknowns you can probably just b/f (when the lines goes as played out).

One other important factor here is that the pot WAS limped PF. Sure, we are drawing live against A3 but we're not getting that great of a price given the pot size. I don't like checking here in what is most likely a LP game but I also don't expect 23 or 78 to wait for the turn in the same game. So I like b/f until someone figures out that I'm willing to fold this hand here.

Yeah like i said i havent really played ALL that much 08, but some, and i would open this hand every single time, but i guess im looser than most, which is why i said that. I dont really remember the point system in Doyles book, but with such great low options and a decent high variety i dont see a single problem opening this hand ever.

How about always raising first in at 6 max o8, like we might do in limit holdem?

If my post was unclear about this, then yes. I`d never limp first in at any 6-max poker format Smile

Avoid open-limping in PLO8 as well?
