SB is TheCart3r and has been in some videos on here. UTG is Scott 'BigRiskky' Clements. this was a few hours ago now, and im kinda mushed, but il try reads: scott isnt getting out of line really. played alot of hands when he came to the table, but after he won them all (mostly from me) he was playing pretty tight and probably not really getting out of line. idk how he'd play 87x2 type hands, but id expect a cap from anything he intends to draw 1 or 0 with obviously. i also dont think he'd be in the business of breaking any 8's pre and can probably have some 96's and even some worse unbreakable 9's

I wasnt quite sure how Cart3r was playing against me. i know he knows im good/aggressive bluffy and can fold sometimes, but he seemed to be both playing a little weak/tight vs me and coming after me at the same time. maybe i was misreading the situation, he hadnt been at the table that long.

so do we break or pat? i think i like my decision, but it is kinda close i guess.

I was thinking break was the correct play and it wasn't really close. Do NLHE tourny type pros really play enough 96s & unbreakable 97s from UTG that patting could become correct? Seems like he'd have to have all his 97xx3 hands in his range before I would consider patting.

I like breaking too (this time last year I would have patted).

Congrats on a strong finish. I imagine the tourney would have been very +EV for you.

carter hasn't got a very good draw but he is not drawing to a nine and you have only 3 8s that are worse if he catches 8+ so if he completes his draw like 40% of the time (out of my head bored to crunch nums) your hand is 15/18% not winning.

also, you must win utg's current hand/range which could be a favorite over you in an unknown situation.

problem is that you must dodge two bullets now and if we combined the odds its not looking good

but curious, if u decided to pat how would u play this hand if it was betted to you? simple call down or raise flop and break to a 3bet?

I still break and keep an 8 if I get it right back. Against 1 opponent drawing 1 to a likely better hand, are we not a dog? Against 2 drawing 1, I have to believe we are. Not to mention the implied odds and the smoothness of our 7 draw.

I like the break, Scott is pretty tight in my experience plus the parlay like everyone said. If 1:1 to you I'm pat and hope they don't both draw til the end

Good point about them possibly not always drawing to the end. With us pat, our fold equity goes up, especially when their draws are poor. So we will sometimes win the hand without even getting to the 3rd draw, and when we do it will sometimes only be against 1 of them.
