Normally I\'d post this in the video forum, but since its not Hold\'em i think we might get better responses here.

Interesting hand he played. As7hAd8h open limp UTG (I like!), UTG+1 and +2 call, BB checks.

4c2s4h flop. BB checks, Joe bets, and the field calls.

Qc turn. BB checks, Joe bets, and the field calls.

9c river. BB checks, Joe bets, and he gets one caller.

I thought he played this hand well. On the flop he is representing top 2, a set or bigger, the turn bet is great but it leaves Joe open for redraws, and the river 9c sucks in a field of 3 opponents, often someone will hold two clubs.

Does the river bet always have value, or is it incredibly slim? Looking at the action Joe\'s flop bet with two 4\'s and then river bet in the face of a 3 flush (which is a huge O8 action killer) shows no fear, could he have folded out someone with a baby flush with a bet? I normally check this river, I beat all 2 pair hands and I am not worried about someone holding a 4 but the flush is lethal - am I too passive here?

Joe\'s line looks good but it depends greatly on the opponents. I play against a lot of people who play very tightly when faced with a river bet but will bluff or make an overly-thin value bet on the river when the low bricks--thus making check/call much better. I haven\'t watched the video yet but from the looks of the value bet these are weak passive players from Joe\'s perspective.

What do you like so much about the UTG limp?

Post edited by: beset, at: 2007/08/14 15:51

Betting is better than calling and showing down is good.
