To me, your hand seems obvious no matter what you do on 6th, you very clearly either have aces or an unimproved low maybe with a big straight draw and just maybe two baby pair. Once the guy calls you on 5th he is calling you down and if you have aces, you have aces.
This is great analysis and is exactly what happens in this situation, which will come up often, repeatedly.
I think you overplayed this hand all the way by the way, it\'s not that big on 3rd.
Great point about 3rd w/the dead Ace and other dead lows, you are 100% correct. In fact, I think I would call the completion and draw a worse low draw in behind me as no better low hand will fold to your raise anyway.

Just check call 6th. You are in what I call \"Hold\'em Flow for Stud players.\" This happens a lot online, it\'s one of my biggest leaks where you just want to bet, bet, bet but this isn\'t so in Stud games. Let the boards dictate the flow, take a pause a every street and analyze the situation before acting.
7th, is a check/call after that. But if he\'s the type to pay off with UI Kings but not bet, then there is a fraction of value. This is highly read dependent.

Hey Ryno,
To me, your hand seems obvious no matter what you do on 6th, you very clearly either have aces or an unimproved low maybe with a big straight draw and just maybe two baby pair. Once the guy calls you on 5th he is calling you down and if you have aces, you have aces. So maybe he\'ll screw up and check 6th and if he bets, its just as good as if you bet, but if he raises, oh baby does that suck. I think you overplayed this hand all the way by the way, it\'s not that big on 3rd.

There was a lot of holdem mentality in this hand and I probably overplayed it but looking for advice on where I made the biggest mistakes:
7 Card Stud *High-Low* ($30/$60), Ante $5, Bring-In $10 (converter)
*3rd Street* - (0.83 SB)
Hero: Ac 7d 3d___raises
Seat 3: xx xx 5h___folds
Seat 6: xx xx Ad___folds
Seat 7: xx xx 2h___*brings-in*___folds
Seat 8: xx xx Kc___raises___calls
*4th Street* - (5.17 SB)
Hero: Ac 7d 3d 3c___*bets*
Seat 8: xx xx Kc 4c___calls
*5th Street* - (3.58 BB)
Hero: Ac 7d 3d 3c 2d___*bets*
Seat 8: xx xx Kc 4c 8h___calls
*6th Street* - (5.58 BB)
Hero: Ac 7d 3d 3c 2d Kh___*bets*
Seat 8: xx xx Kc 4c 8h 2c___calls
*River* - (7.58 BB)
Hero: Ac 7d 3d 3c 2d Kh 7h___*bets*

\"But if he\'s the type to pay off with UI Kings but not bet\"
This is what I thought, but after considering the hand further I realized that he needs to have a pretty narrow range to have unimproved kings and no low.
Regarding 6th, there are spots in stud and stud8 where the clearly right play makes your hand obvious to your opponent, so I am afraid to do it. Is the answer to checkraise more? Or just grin and bear it in a spot like this?
Thanks for the advice!

3rd - 5th Street: A+
6th Street: check, your opponent will check if he has a brain, and he will often bet an equity dog if he is clueless (which is not a bad thing at all).
7th Street: check/call - cross your fingers that he bet KK unimproved

I think check/call is the worst possible option on the river with bet/fold > check/fold.
3rd I can argue for a call or reraise, a dead Ace leans me toward call. 4th is fine the way third was played. 5th standard no matter what. 6th I check.

Where is the best place to learn the rules of 8 card stud
It's not 8 card Stud, this is Stud Hi/Low, also know has Stud 8 or better, as you need a 8 low to qualify for the low half of the pot. Episode 3 of From a Donk to a stud may help you get started.
