Ok, so I had some sessions with blah234 and he asked me to write a review. Its always hard to make advertisement for your coach when u know that with your review he might also improve the game of your villains, but ok. I am not getting any kind of remuneration for this here.
I've been playing poker for 2years now. I tried a lot of coaches, all of them were excellent players, but i remember only 2 of them who had been good coaches. Especially in the last month i tried to find a new coach to get me up the stakes. I had several 1st Sessions, most of the Video Review, all of them just gave me feedback on single hands and ended with "how we go forward i leave up to you" (WTF that’s not the purpose of the first session, next one).
The first session with Blah was different, he didn’t care so much about single mistakes in the hands, but about the thought process and at the end of the session he gave me a feedback where he thought i am standing, what my leaks are, and what we should do. (Yes, please, more of that) Incidentally i had the same picture.
We had 3 Sessions now, 2 of them pure theory sessions. Those sessions were some of the biggest eye openers i had for poker in the last year. Complete basic stuff like CBetting and reacting to CBets, something an aspiring reg at Micro Stakes even knows and does (or at least he thinks he knows about it).
So, why does a NL200 Reg need a 1.5hr theory lesson about CBetting. Blah talks about things like "constructing your ranges according to how your villains are likely to react". Sounds super fancy, is super fancy, but puts a complete different light on a lot of things. I don’t wanna go to much into the topic, but understanding the theory helped me play more hands profitable, get better reads and play back more often and more profitable.
And we just started.
Summarizing, judging by the upper text it seems I can recommend blah as coach ïŠ. His HH Review was good, although i must admit, this is the part where most coaches are pretty good. What he excelled was going back behind my actions 5 steps and going in details about the preconditions which should be there to make my play +EV.
So, when you are a NL25 player, i am not sure if Blah234 is the right one. I think Blah234 can rly improve your game/understanding when you play like NL200 and dont just grind your way but want to move up to 5/10. At least that is my goal.
