Hey All,
I'm going to return to coaching starting the first week in September. I am looking to take 2-3 students and hoping to foster a scenario where the students will be in touch with each other as well if this is feasible time/location wise.
At this time I have a waiting list I've compiled that is almost two years old of 32 people who have contacted me via DC. Realistically, I presume that the position many of these people were in 1.5 years ago is not the same now and so I am opening this to the general public, however if you are one of the people on my waiting list and are still interested please contact me and I will address these applicants with preference based on their spot on the wait list. However, I do have a set of restrictions for potential students which may also contribute to people not being interested or qualifying for the coaching.
My rate will be 350/hr.
I will not accept any offers for staking/profit sharing etc, and this flat rate is non-negotiable.
350/hr however does not include just the sweat session. Every sweat session will be accompanied by a follow up session where we review hands played later on in the week and hands played during the specific sweat session as necessary. How many hours of sweat session you want to buy will be up to you and the time spent on follow up will generally correlate accordingly. I would expect most follow up sessions to be in the 1-2 hour range.
That being said, people I feel would most benefit from my coaching:
100-200nl regs at 6m/9m looking to move up.
400nl regs who feel their game is stagnant.
heads up regulars from just about any stakes who are looking to get into 6m/9m play and can afford coaching
PLO regs who again, are looking into getting into 6m/9m NLHE play
live players who have enough of a bankroll and want to get started in more online play
MTT players looking to get into cash (possibly, see below)
Things that would possibly discourage you from taking my coaching:
I will be doing sweat sessions exclusively on Sunday. I will only budge from this requirement under specific circumstances with long term students. A strict schedule will be necessary for me to stay organized with future lesson plans. When you buy an hour of coaching you will also get the follow up session aforementioned. This will be planned on a later day the following week based on student schedule. I can be fairly flexible on this within reason.
I understand this can be detrimental to a lot of MTT players looking for coaching, but I will be available for an early session prior to the start of the Sunday majors for students who would still be interested. (I will be located in CST in the USA, GMT -6)
I will likely have difficulty coaching people located in Australia or any Asian timezones. When I say sweat sessions are to be on Sunday I mean GMT -6 Sunday, and so you will have to plan accordingly to your time zone. Obviously this applies to Euros as well although the time difference is a little more manageable. We can handle this on a case by case basis of course and I don't want anyone to feel discouraged from applying for this reason but it is worth keeping in mind.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, I will not accept coaching from anyone looking to move up from 200nl+ on PokerStars. I do not want to be coaching anyone who will be playing in the same games in me. This is to protect both of us and the integrity of the games, as well as not being detrimental to either of us in our play. There will be no exceptions to this rule. Obviously if someone plays on FTP and later switches sites there is nothing I can do about this but if this occurs during my coaching it will result in instant termination of our coaching agreements. Likewise, if a player gets coaching from me at 100nl on Stars and makes a successful transition to 200nl, this will also result in ending our coaching arrangement.
I don't want to give any reason for other regulars to think there is any unethical information sharing or play going on and this is the best way for that to occur. It is likely I will be playing exclusively on Stars for the foreseeable future so this will probably not change.
If there are any questions one may have about something I may have missed feel free to PM me or post them here. I hope to get started by the beginning of September like I said and will announce when I have chosen the students and have this closed. I am hoping this will leave enough time for all prospective applicants to apply. If I haven't found qualified candidates by September I will continue to extend the offer until I find 2-3 good applicants.
If you are interested, PM me with the following information:
Detailed history of poker background, up to present
Basic personal info: age, what your current employment is (if any), if you have children/wife/family etc, if you're studying at univeristy. I understand some people may want to keep these things private and you don't need to be very detailed its just pertinent info with regard to scheduling in some cases, and will give me a better feel of where you're coming from emotionally in approach to the game.

What your goals are in regard to my coaching

How long term of an investment you are looking for.
Quick note about that last one: I am not going to have a preference for people based on whether they juts want a few sessions or want to be coached for a year. I understand coaching is expensive and it is not financially feasible for most people. If you want to do one hour a month or 50 hours a month it will not change how I feel about whether or not you are qualified. I am basing my decisions solely on how beneficial my coaching would be to you and how logistically tangible being coached by me would be. Realistically some people will find that my coaching may not be as helpful to them as they may have hoped and will not want to continue with multiple sessions. Of course, I will try my hardest to address everyone's needs. If someone stops receiving coaching I will re-open the thread and take another student if I feel capable.
I only want to know how many sessions you are interested in so I can better gauge how to address your needs within an estimated time frame. This is probably the least important of the aforementioned items regarding information I want from prospective students.
I know this is pretty detailed but I want to be thorough and be sure I can offer people a service that will have a reasonable value compared to the amount I am charging.
Thanks, hope to hear from some of you,
Nolan
