Hey all,
I think I'm in a unique situation. I'm a 5ptbb/100 winner at 25nl over a smallish sample (23k hands) and am moving to HU NL. I'm getting staked atm for 50k hands of 50NL HU. The staker will eat losses at the end (if i'm down) and we split profits at the end (if i'm up).

Currently, I have a roll of $1900. I'm breakeven over 5k hands of HU and, despite watching prinnyraiding and talking with some players, still feel very lost. How much do you think I should spend on coaching?

I tried getting in contact with Bosoxx but he's booked/school's starting.

Thanks for any ideas,
Mariogs

I dont think you have to think about how much to put in coaching because its a long term investment, and I promise it will get pay by itself

that said, i would probably do no less than 3 hours if youre serious about getting coached. remember you can always buy more if you start shipping it!

sorry to be so blunt but 5k hands of HUNL is nothing. it took me something like 70k hands before i really felt fairly comfortable in "most" spots and even then (and now) i still feel like I have a lot to learn compared to the masters of the game like krantz, fwf, whitelime etc. Also consider the fact that it took me that "long" and I still had already made a career out of mid/high stakes 6max NL, so I had a pretty good foundation.

learning HU is very difficult... it's going to take a lootttttt of hours of practice practice practice as well as coaching sessions. I'd suggest the coaching sessions be at least partially theory based. Come to the sessions saying "how can i adjust to a guy who does this or that or play this style or that style preflop etc" Those are really the questions that will help you learn how to formulate a counter strategy (kind of how we did pr1nnyraiding, talking about differnet player types... but break it down for your coach even further... "how do i counter act a guy who checkraises flops a lot?" etc.)

hope that helps
WoT
