yeah
i think whatever he is calling with can either improve, has improved or could turn itself into a bluff, because he has all the opportunity in the position.. but why barrel in the first place then?
he is never going to let me get away with this!?
looking back at the board it feels like i have nothing in my repertoire to make this hand profitable at all.
a) i guess i could checkraise the flop and put in the last bet somewhere?
b) what do you think about checking (planning to call) and c/f the turn ui?

I think you are overreacting. If you think that he is float happy and stabby, you can c/shove turn. C/f turn makes sense if you think that his flop calling range is heavily weighted to hands that are never folding to a turn bet, seems hard to believe in a blind battle.

Flop is somewhat dry. Only hands we are worried avbout are A7,A4 and some combos draws like 86cc or 45cc, so its really a small range for him he can have. Therefore we can bet flop smaller rather than larger.
If you think he calls/calls/folds then better bigger on the flop maybe an advantage but your $42 bet size is good IMO.
I tend to not 3barrel in these situation and I myself have bene trying more 3barrelings with a more balanced range but its not turning out good lol. I think I would double barrel the turn (for images sake so we get calls from Ax against a triple barrel in future when we have a set/AJ+), but I would c/f the river. Once you create an image of bet/bet/cf draws I think we can triple barrel this but really has to be against the right sort of players.
